I was wondering if anyone had any recent info on doing chain conversions. Everything I have found is from a few years back and nothing recent.

I have found this to be one of the better installs http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/98206.html?1215006241

Is saintly cycles still making kits?

Does American Sport Bike deal with chain conversions anymore?

Are there better options than the Vortex sprocket?

Thanks

Dave

I called Saintly cycles today: they no longer sell the kits. They said they weren't profitable so they gave up on it.

Does anyone know why some are going with a 530 conversion and others are going with a 520?

I found this kit:
http://www.freespirits.it/prodotti.php?lang=2&cat_id=401&prod_id=173
It's defiantly the best looking one out there that doesn't involve swing arm modification or replacement but isn't affordable. I don't want to spend $1000 on a $3000 bike.

http://www.sprocketspecialists.com/SprocketMain.aspx - They sell rear sprockets for the buell xbs in 520, 530, in aluminum or hard anondized. You can get 30-72 teeth in 520 and 28-71 teeth in 530. A 50 tooth 520 will run you about $63. A 50 tooth 530 runs about $96.

Here's a collection of chain conversion photos I've gathered:

I have a 530 kit for sale. It has a brand new 50 tooth grand stand designs black aluminum rear sprocket, sprocketed tensioner like a couple pics above, 21 tooth front sprocket and 530 chain along with spacers and crank nut. Would like to get $500 shipped to lower 48, but make offers if you are interested.

Reviving another dead thread!

After looking around, I haven't really found much on the subject. Anybody know of a kit or a parts list to make this happen?

Xb12sLt- you are the man. Thank you so much!

And that setup looks just wicked, very nicely done.

Neither link for EBR seems to work for me, however.. I feel like I'll figure it out.

No modification to the swing arm needed?

If the ebr website shows up for you just click on the chain drive link on the upper right side of the page. I didnt need to do anything to my swingarm, but if my chain is loose it does touch the swingarm. Ive had my chain for around a year and the swingarm only has a few marks on it.

For me.....yes, I busted a bunch of belts(4). I really liked the belt drive for its quietness, cleanliness, smoothness. But I do track days and the belt would break on the 2nd to 3rd shift every time. The chain is great knowing it won't bust(fingers crossed), but it is loud and messy. I've had the chain for just over a year now and its needed a rear sporcket swaped out so far. I just got tired of the belt breaking. I'm willing to deal with the mess of a chain to keep my peace of mind.
