03 xb9s neutral light won't come on after bike is hot, started out only happening every once in a while, and now more and more. with no neutral signal the bike won't start back up. it does go into neutral i can let out on the clutch. just no light till bike sits for about 15 mins. what is the deal.

When the engine is cold, the primary chain tension is tight; when it gets hot, you loose tension which makes shifting harder... Check your primary chain adjustment when the engine is warm since that's when the problem happens. Depending on how many miles you have, I'd check clutch tension too. Good luck!

the bike has 12k on it now and bought it at 5k couple seasons ago and had the 5k service and the 10k service done at the dealership. they said bike has clean bill of health both times. I think it does seem to shift hard though

funnybunny is probably right , just loosen the lock nut and spin the adjuster counter clockwise (maybe a half turn?) try that, and repeat if no improvement is felt. if that doesnt work keep track of the amount of adjustment made. so you can at least return to your starting point.

could also be the neutral sensor pickup, i've read they can degrade with time. cant help there. goodluck
