I recently bought an 03 XB9R. I just changed the oil, because when I checked it, the dipstick had some foam on it and it smelled like gas. Is it possible for gas to get into the oil? what can cause that, what could be the issue. I'll see if the oil smells like gas later on after I put some miles on it.

Foam is from condensation and excessive foam could point to water getting in via the clutch cable.

As far as gas in oil, hopefully it's just the oil your smelling. Could keep an eye on MPG and make sure you're not getting very low numbers, but I don't see how the gas could be getting in there.

Well, I smelled the oil I put in and it didn't have a smell and the old oil I took out smelled like gas. i'm getting about 42MPG but I do take it easy, and I'm doing a lot of highway miles at 80-85 sometimes higher.

Water cant get in from the clutch cable...
That is seperate from the motor oil.
Also alot of times used oil will have a kinda gas smell to it. I would not worry about it.
