Sketching up some rearsets

also im looking for a damaged airbox cover. I plan on modifying one to make a plug to build a carbon fiber one. Id like to not cut up my good white one.

saw a black one on ebay, pinwall cycles, pretty cheap for an airbox, think the decal on one side was missing, wanna say 45 bucks or so

It's funny how you can buy a complete swingarm for 50$ shipped, but an injection molded piece of plastic goes for more.

There is a lot more expense and work that goes into that injection molded piece of plastic than what people think.

Curios to see what you will do with those cans.

I know what goes into injection molding. I've made many of the molds themselves, they are very labor intensive to make. .010" thick slits for vacuum 4" into a block of aluminum isn't easy.

Still I think a multi piece cast, assembled, welded then machined swingarm should cost more. I'm not complaining about my 50$ donor swingarm to cut up though.

Right. The molds are the easy part ;)

I have always found it odd how cheaply a buell swingarm can be had for. Due to the complexity of the xb swingarm compared to most other bikes, one would think they would be a little pricier.

Made the next parts for the rearsets

And made these little spacers that will let me accurately measure the tapped rearset hole locations

its great to have access to tools like that.

all the machines i programmed/ran at the old shop were too large. we were turning pistons that were 790mm diameter, 1500kg.

i been eyeing the PM45 mill for the house to possibly convert it later.....but a used TM-1 would suffice. lol
