Hi all,

I need to replace my fuel on a 2003XB9s. My question to you is... now I've heard that this might work... that I can replace it with the fuel pump from Ford mustang V6? Can anyone confirm if this is true, since the factory fuel pumps are on the pricey side.

I don't know how to copy and paste on this tablet. So with that being said go to eBay seller......highflowfuel. The kit is like $79, that is the kit you want and it's complete with the regulator. If you need the o-rings contact member lunaticfringe he has them. There are very helpful vids on how to remove the pump as well on here and the tube. Just use the Google search at the top of the forum. Silver beat me to the punch but don't just pick any of them, the first one is the one you want.

I noticed the fuel pump on the lightning i just got is really loud. Is that a sign it's going out or is it just whiny?

it's going bad tony. pump destined for "pump heaven" typically whines or groans after having sat unused for a week or more then quiets down after motor starts. another symptom is lazy roll-on throttle response which feels like you're trying to moderately accelerate with the brakes on. another is constant whining/growling/groaning noise.
also recommend replacing the fuel level sensor at the same time tony.
part # is P0789.KA if it's not faulty now it will be very soon. list price about $15. still tons in stock.

Its a 2005 . 13k miles. I watched the video on how to change it. Looks really sucky.

It's easy to swap a fuel pump in much less than one beers time in the garage:)
Hang the rear of the bike by the passenger peg brackets using an A-frame ladder (or the rafters)
Remove the lower shock bolt to let the swingarm hang. (put some blue painters tape on the side of the swing arm to protect it from scratches)
Drain the tank from the 1/8" pipe plug in the fuel pump assy flange. (Use tin foil to form a funnel and drain into a clean container for re-use).
Remove the electrical connector and 4 flange bolts
It might stick a bit, but once the o-rings are free, turn the fuel pump assembly slightly and it will go past the swing arm with just a little finagling.

On re-assembly: If you are re-using the o-rings and find they seem too big, don't force them! let them dry overnight and they should shrink back to size.

option 3 , jack under exhaust , loosen rear axle to provide slack to belt, lower swing arm pop out pump.:black_eyed: Yes I made it sound simple cuz it really is.

I made my own cradle craddle01.jpg
