Got around to getting the bike ready for the motor to be pulled and man is this way easier than the 1125. I did that twice on that bike.
The frame will be nice and open for the welder to come and repair the cracks. I'll clean the motor up and install the new generator and inspect the valves.

It looks so too my in that frame. So im guessing from color, frame and dash, this is an 04? Honestly one of my favorite looking 10R's of all of them. Always loved them in Black that year. Wanted to buy one bad and almost did but got a smoking deal on my 2005 6R which I found to be unbelievably sexy in the raw titanium color.

Keep us updated. I always enjoy seeing a good build. I'm doing my Ulysses winter build at the moment. Slow going though waiting on parts and watching after two kids.

Hope it all gets put right in the end and you can get years of enjoyable riding out of the bike.

Ya it's an 04. My favorite zx too. Dry weight it 375lbs stock. Remove the pipe, light battery, servo, other misc. bolts and hardware and you can shave 15 to 20 pounds. Imagine a set of magn. wheels, race tail section, race generator. Jazz, she would be light as a feather. They sit and ride like a dream. Many years of race engineering breeds nice ergos.

This is how my shop looks every winter. Geez. Valves shims will be in this week as well as new radiator. I will button the top end up and call a friend over to reinstall into the frame.

Frame has been welded. New forks, clip -ons, radiator, fuel pump, battery and generator(stator) installed. New fairings are on order. Valves adjusted, misc bolts bought and installed. Also will need tires, sprocket and chain. But that's next month. I have spent a ton of time and money rebuilding this beast. More work than I wanted but I am getting closer. I think once the new fairings get here I may pay and have the paint redone on the tank too. They will blue but they may be a little different shade. I think by now I know the manual very well. I will say, at first I was daunted by the task but I just did one thing at a time and made certain to take my time. I may go rip on it here in just a sec. since the weather is nice. I spent all afternoon getting the airbox, tb's, oil and radiator fluids done. Battery was dead so I did a no no and used the car to jump it. But is sure felt good to hear the inline roar too life!

Outstanding work man! Takes a lot of heart and patience to bring a bike back from the brink.
I too lust after a zx10r. I really like the titanium or silver 05's.
Your other post has given me a new insight on the inspection process when looking at a used zx10r.
Thanks for posting and keep up the good work!

Plastics are in. Once I get them on I will post progress pictures. I'm getting closer too having a dream come true.

Hey matteson,

Seen a few of your post in zx10r.net

Got some work to due on my 2010 gen 3 nothing as major as yours.

Sounds like it's coming along well

Yes indeed. A small world rt.:D Buellxb is like a home. Great guys and info here. I rebuilt a couple Buells with the help from the guys on this site.
I started putting the plastics on today . I had to epoxy the smoked cover onto the integrated tail light today before I could get the tail piece on. Also did a little wire work on the tail light since the p o wasn't an electrician either.:p

Good luck on the project!
Always loved the Kawis myself. Way back I had a '86 1000R, and a '88 ZX-10. I recently (very cheaply) bought a '92 ZX-11 that I found 6mm BOLTS in 2 cylinders after I bought it. Re-built, balancer delete, better cams/pistons, ported, shaved head, sprockets, and lightened.
Dang, I forgot how fast they were!! They do 'flying mile' close by so I'm trying to go 200MPH for $2000 total. NO2 to the rescue!
