Looks great! I'm hoping to have a supermoto by the end of spring! I've got the cash for one, but I'm tempted to try and use it to buy an xb12s first, then I can just sell my 9s and use that money for one. It's either that or buying the supermoto, then just selling the xb9 until a 12 pops up for sale, which obviously leaves me Buell-less for a while, which I don't like.

I'd love to have one made from a serious MX bike, but I'll be using it as a street bike and in no way want to keep up with that maintenance schedule. The point of buying one will be to beat the hell out of it, and I don't care to include weekly oil changes anywhere in that arrangement haha. I'll probably end up with a drz, but I really love the newer ktm 690 smc, although I'm not counting on any popping up on craigslist any time soon. Someone just listed a really nice looking wr450 supermoto about 2 weeks ago, but it was just a couple weeks too early.

Let us know how the race goes!

i am little. like a jockey...thats why im fast.

lol

the DRZs are reliable as can be. I had one for a few years as a commuter and I beat the crap out of it. never missed a beat. but if youre not commuting, the WR is a better choice. throw in the YZ cams, pipe, jet it and itll do ya good.

i personally wouldnt spend the coin on a KTM unless it was a heck of a deal. I do like them though...but if money wasnt an option and i just wanted pure SM fury, its be an SXV550.

I wouldn't spend a lot of money on a KTM, only if I found a great deal on one. That's why I'm not expecting to have one any time soon. I'll be happy with a drz to beat around, but I certainly wouldn't mind finding one of the 250lb bikes with 50-55hp.

I'd love to get into sumos but I think they're too tall for me.

I'm only 5'8 so you can't be too far off. I've seen a ton of bikes with lower seats, and obviously the suspension has a lot of room to be lowered. They'll also drop a bit when you actually sit on it. I put off the idea for quite a while because I'm short and do a lot of city riding, so I figured the tall bike would get old, but they're so light and you can just slide one cheek off the seat, I just couldn't avoid it anymore.

that yz is so nasty! I have a wr i wanted to super moto but keep putting it off because I love it in the woods way too much! [up] on the bike it is so clean

do you have any issues with the gearing? I heard a few people have had gears burn up on them when they make super motos out of yzf's and crf's

im 5-8. i barely touch the ground with both toes w/my mx boots on. but you just get used to it. the bike is sooo light and so much power...its a 450 (i used the black plate color for looks only...im not an AMA sanctioned racer...just a weekend warrior)...it can get you into, AND out of trouble. lol.

i drop the front a lil bit and increase comp/reb. but you can get/cut seat to lower also.

kona: one day at the track and i was literally hooked.

top 2 are 70-200, bottom was 10-22 the T/S is gone.
the 2nd ones DOF is awesome...i was about 15-18ft away. IIRC @200mm.

no issues with gearing. nor am i using a slipper clutch. i do it old skool. hahaha...probably why im so damn slow. but i have a tendency to short shift and slip the clutch a lot. i guess its a style/preference thing...so theres not a lot of shock load on the tranny. i find with this setup its where the tq is at home.

2004xb12s: what's the maintenance like on that wr450? I don't know if you saw that one that was listed on craigslist, comes with dirt and supermoto(converted streetbike) wheels. If he still has it in a few weeks I might go check it out because I really like the wr450s, but I'm looking for a bike that can make it at least 1000miles between oil changes. Not looking to be on a weekly oil change schedule.

Upthemaiden: I do an oil change twice a year and coolant once a year...fill it up with gas and go. It does great I ride about once a week pretty hard through technical woods riding and it hasn't let me down yet. If anyone has questions about it feel free to ask...im sure I could be of some assistance
