New to this forum. Just picked up an X1.

Hello Buellers. I found these forums and did a tiny bit of research prior to buying an X1 last week. I must admit I made an impulse buy and jumped on the first Buell I liked in my price range. I am having a little buyers remorse but then I think about the long ride in the mountains yesterday and the grin I had.

I may have over paid for the bike, but it is in excellent shape. Tell me what you guys think? It is an 01 X1 with 5500 miles. Carbon fiber tank cover, rear fender eliminator and windscreen. K&N filter. LED rear lamp/turn signals. XB rocker covers. Polished seat frame. Stock otherwise.

Only negatives I noticed when buying it was the tires need replacing. Negatives I have since found are a poorly routed crank vent dumping oil on the chin spoiler and front tire?!?! (after browsing these forums I will be adding a catch can and filter) That and my brake lamp stays on which appears to be from the rear brake pedal sticking. (not equipped with a return spring? over tightened maybe?)

Oh... I almost forgot... I have all the stock parts and paid $3400. How hard should I kick myself???

Looks like a fun bike. Tough to say about buyers remorse, these bikes aren't for everybody, but if it's what you want, then you'll know it's what you want. There's are times I wouldn't mind being on something different, but I can't imagine giving up my bike for one of them. give it a little bit of time and see how you feel. The brake pedal doesn't sound like anything serious, just take a look at it and see what's sticking.

So far I love the bike! The remorse is from thinking I could have found a better deal. Thanks for your input.

Buells were one of the few true American sportbike companies. No need for buyer remourse, they're no longer made so I look at a Buell purchase as an investment in a future collectible. Welcome to the Board and the Buell family.

Thank you sir. The sun just came out so I think I need to take the long way to the bike shop to get some tires. Maybe I will wait for em' and take the longer way home.

With a little bit more money you could take a shot at XB but... at only 5500mls and immaculate condition I don't know if you could find X1 any cheaper.

Yeah, you did good on the price. I would pay that in a heartbeat for that bike. Especially with the stock equipment with it. Welcome, and nice scoot!

Nice bike[up] I don't think the price was bad for the miles and shape its in. I paid 4500 for my 98 S3 a few years back with 4600 miles on the clock.

Thanks guys. Just dropped her off for some new pirellis, 5000 mi service and noticed the primary cover gasket had blown out the bottom?!?! Didn't expect to see that with as low as the miles are. After I get her back and put a few miles on her its time to start with a few mods that I have already done in my head. The fender eliminator is garbage... gonna make my own out of aluminum. Thinking about relocating the horn and using the horn bracket to mount a catch can and filter. Any ideas on a good place to mount the horn? I like having a new toy to ride and tinker with. Thanks again for a great forum chock full-o-info.
