Riding around town last night and pulled out from a corner. Got up to about 35 and a guy cut in front of two cars turning and hit me head on. 35 doesn't sound fast put he pinned leg between the car and I was thrown over the whole car. No helmet..stupid of me just thinking I don't need it in town. Anyway, I was able to crawl off the road and wait for ambulance. Walked away from ER with only a fractured ankle and full sprain. Minor road rash and my backpack broke the fall. Bikes pretty trashed so we'll see how long it takes to get a new one. So....while God blessed me I know it was my one chance, always wear your helmet and gear, I'll never leave without it again.

Sorry to hear but glad it's not worse. What in the hell is up with all the bike crashes on here lately ? [confused]

Sorry to hear that, i learned the hard way early and never leave without gear. If you ride, you will fall, just when and how. Glad to hear your ok though, glw your new bike

Glad your ok and I always wear a helmet and my jacket as a minimum I wrecked my 9r last may at about 65. wearing helmet carhart jacket/sweater/shirt jeans and sneakers (didn't have money for proper gear) and the carharts zipper failed and ripped off causing my shoulder to have about a 5"x6" area that had no skin on it. Took 7months to heal up and I have a nasty scar now. Could have been worse but it's not worth the chance.

First of all I am glad it was not more serious on you - you were blessed. I one to at least wear a full coverage helmet and gloves I don't care how short the ride, how hot it is, etc. It is risky to get on a motorcycle. And as defensively as we constantly ride, as if we are invisible to other vehicle operators, there are always going to be situations. Start looking for that new Buell, and then make it happen. Take care, heal well. Keep us posted.

Reading this I'll absolutely never ride w.o my helmet again. I do the same thing and will go to lunch not wearing it because the speed limit is only 30-35 and its only one road in a small-ish town. Really glad your still here and walked out of the ER. Planning on another XB? Going to buy your wrecked one back from insurance?

Wow man! That story could have ended very differently. Glad you're OK. Speedy recovery to you!

From the sound of it, you are one lucky man. Could have ended so much worse. Glad you came out relatively unscathed and wiser.

Thanks guys, yeah I was only goin 30-35 and only out for a quick spin, the lid will always be worn from now on. I plan in getting mine back and fixing and unless it's crazy expensive. Otherwise I'll get another XB of some kind. It was a 2003 9r.

It wasn't my fault and my riding couldn't of been more defensive..it's just one of those times a freak accident happens and it catches you off guard. Please wear your helmets, I got off too lucky!

(doing well)

None of the scene, I was put into c collar and back board and I haven't seen any pictures. I have my bike though, I can snap a few sometime soon, it looks remarkably well compared to how it could of. Basiaclly it went down on the left side and missing everything on left

Glad your still with us, the bike is replaceable. Hopefully, everyone takes your cue on gearing up...

Wow man, sorry about the accident. really glad you are okay. Be safe out there guys!

At least you won't have to buy a new helmet...

:p

For real though, glad you are ok and it's a good wake up call for a lot of us!!!

At least you won't have to buy a new helmet...

Insensitive jerk. The backpack broke the fall.

MotoX6 - How is your backpack doing?

Seriously though, get well soon.

Sorry for your loss guy so heal up soon! Hopefully you can find a new horse to ride as well!
