I decided to upgraded my regulator to the CE 605 SB. When I first hooked it up I was at 14.5 volts on cold start up, then it went down to 14.1 and stayed there. After I took it for an hour long text drive all was fine and all of a sudden at ideal my volts dropped to 12.8 sitting in traffic. When I got home I discovered on of my connectors wasn't well enough and burnt up. I decided to redo all of my connections and started the bike up and it started out at 12.8 and quickly rose to 14.1. Now as long as I am moving I am consitatly at 14.0 volts but if I let it ideal for about 2-3 mins I drop down to 13.2 volts. Could my battery just be low and needs put on a charger or do I have another issue?

I know people are paranoid about the charging system on these bikes (with good reason), but anything above 12 in my book is good. It is RPM dependent. Moving your RPM are higher than idle, increased voltage being generated. My rule of thumb- check votage one time during my rides...if above 12/13 volts, move to another screen and not worry about it...

I do much the same as Macbuell, check it once maybe twice on long ride. I live in Phoenix and ride at 110 temp outside . Those levels mirror mine . Dont forget the fans running in idle and with RPMS down voltage will drop to around 13.8 [up]
