Hello!

So I just purchased a 2004 XB12S. Although I am not new to riding, this is my first officially owned bike. I am still overseas and will get to my bike around October.

Well, I was searching around and see the seath heigh being 30.1 inches. I was wondering, me as a rider being 5'7, are there any issues with backing up or standing at stop lights? I don't believe I will have my feet fully planted on the ground when sitting on the bike or am I wrong? Any other 5'6-5'7 riders out there that can chime in?

Note: Yes, I am new to this forum but not forums in general. I have done research but my answer has not been fully answered.

What's your inseam? That'll give you some clue as to how tall the seat height will be for you. The XB is a relatively narrow bike so you shouldn't have too much of a problem.

While it is comforting for newer or smaller riders to sit both feet flat on the ground, it's certainly not neccessary. I come from the school of riding motorcycles like horses. Just as you don't ride a horse expecting to get a foot down, neither should you on a motorcycle. Once you're used to that way of thinking, you'll be fine...:D

I'm 5'7" with around a 28" inseam. I can fit on the bike fine. I can only stand flat footed with one foot but that's been my entire life on motorcycles. My last motorcycle was a Kawasaki Versys and it's seat height was 33.1" so this bike is way easier to touch ground on.

Awesome, I shouldn't have any issues then. I don't want to lower the bike but I should be fine.

Well, figured as this is my first post, I will a picture of my bike! It is the day it arrived in garage.

First...Welcome to the forum! Nice bike! [up]

I have a 30" inseam and my 2004XBS fits me nicely even with the Select Seat (which is slightly higher than stock). If you're concerned about it, you could always find a used seat off of an Scg which will drop things down a bit (not sure how much).

I have the exact same bike, 5'7", about a 30 inseam and can almost flat foot. Sometimes when backing up, if there is a slight up slope, I will have to push my back back before I get on. You will be good. Just ride the hell of it!

Awesome! I guess I won't have issues then. I just wanted to prepare before finally arriving home after 18 months.

ho chit! Someone recognized me from FB. No I haven't. That issue was on Friday and we will get to it tomorrow. Have to contact DMV in Florida to make sure what we read online is fully accurate and then send the paperwork in.
