    Updated header gaskets

Has anyone else used the updated gasket # 65324-83B? I have them installed flush in the heads with the tappered edge out to receive the header but something isn't right. Should the header be going a decent way into the gasket or should it be resting pretty much on the lip and I have to ratchet...

ok. where do they go? I don't see them in any of the part's diagrams and I cant tell where by just eyeballing the cover.

    Any idea?

The isolator bolt is just there for size comparison.

    Any idea?

I believe these two, let's call them sleeves, came from behind the primary cover somewhere. Any idea what they are for or where they belong?

I'll be back in Atlanta next month or so. Bike is down until I get a broken manifold stud removed though.

    damn it...broken exhaust stud

Its the front head. I was planning on rotating the engine, removing the headers trying and probably failling to get the bolt out from that position. When that doesnt work I've already mentally prepared myself for removing the heads.

    damn it...broken exhaust stud

Not looking to start another broken exhaust stud thread. Just wanted to gripe because I'm having to rotate the engine again this year. I know most of my options for removing the stud, still finalizing which direction I'm going to go on that. My question is do you guys recommend any other...

    Baltimore is Burning

There are a few lines/statements that someone more racially sensitive than myself could take issue with. I personally didn't see anything that I would call racist or even bothered me at all. My overall point was that destroying your own property is stupid. I do however think most of us are grown...

    Baltimore is Burning

Well I'm one of the few, if not only, black guys on this forum and I shook my head when I saw this topic for what I hope are obvious reasons. I will agree with some of you with the general commentary of destroying your own neighborhood is stupid as f@ck. Anger should be directed at it's proper...

    random bushing? hopefully

Just "successfully" completed an engine rotation to work on the rocker box. Or so I thought until I saw that bushing laying on the ground when it was time to reinstall everything. I really don't think it's from the bike but I have no idea where else it would have come from. Do any of you guys...

    fork oil change

Youtube and excellent forum write ups got me through the rotation/gasket job. With exception to the compressor and impact in the video above I think I've got it figured out. Thanks for the encouragement.

    fork oil change

The only reason I'm contemplating is because the few "pros" I've spoken with make it sound like a "do not attempt" on your own type of deal. I'm just hoping to get the opinions of the community, mainly the guys who've done it. I actually enjoy the wrench time as much as the ride time. I figured...

    fork oil change

I'm racking my brain trying to decide if i want to tackle the forks myself or just pay the $250 and be done with. I'm not a mechanic and my tool selection is limited. I have successfully done an engine rotation and header gasket replacement. All opinions welcomed. I just passed 10k on the dash...

Which rocker box gasket kit for my year

I just replaced my rear gasket also with the upgraded gasket kit I bought at Harley. Not sure if thats the dealer you purchased from but go back to them and give them some grief. You may get a free or discounted kit out of them.
