2 Quick Questions Please??

1. About to powder coat my Hawk Exhaust..
-Should I go with a flat black or Semi-gloss????

2. I have seen the Lightning to Bolt tail swaps and Bolts to Lightning tail swaps, but can I just swap the front fairings?? I have a 2007 XB9SX and am thinking of putting the Bolt front fairing on mine. Is there a link and how difficult would that be?

I did it and it is awesome!! not too much work, its easy. just need the right parts.

and I would go flat black on that pipe.

I did not think powder-coat was suggested for the heat in the exhaust? Maybe I am thinking headers...

A nice high temp spray paint will get you what you want on the can and do it cheaper.

I was able to swap upper triple, ignition, headlights and brackets, with another forum member on here. So I just had to buy a fairing and new blinkers.

I 2nd the high temp rattle can idea. Great way to save $95!

While I swapped parts I would guess total cost to buy everything for the swap could be close to $400 for USED parts so try and swap.

Mack - I was going with the powder coat because it would free for me!!! My cousin powder all day long, so any small job they hook me up while shooting big jobs!!
My cousin just did my little brothers CBR pipe gloss black. It's only been a week but so far so good!

I did mine with hi temp grill paint. I have redone it twice because I am kinda anal about my bike, I like it to look new.

50 yours looks flat except for the end cap... is it just the picture?? Do you have a picture of that pipe on your bike outside in the sun? Love your tip!!

I think he used ceramic engine paint, which is what holds up to the heat.

Just checked the can. It's a Dupli-color Low Gloss Black Engine Paint. Dupli-color Engine Enamel

It's held up well thus far. Don't think the muffler gets hot enough to burn it off. The header would be another story. Here's a few pics:

Thanks guys! And there is a way to keep the lightning bars, but it doesn't look that great. The whole thing cost me right around 400. I didn't want to trade any of my original lightning pieces. You will need a fairing, windscreen, mirrors, bars, upper triple, ignition, fairing stay, and lights.

you can, it just takes time. The bars were the only parts I bought new. Everything else I got from people on this site. Just keep your eyes open for for sale threads, if you want an R front end, there is probably someone looking for an s. maybe you can trade them straight up, I think Wolfo68 was looking for an s front. But im not sure anymore.

Check ebay and buellsterparts. I have an R ignition I could give you to start, but problem is I do not have a key for it.
