I'm new to the biking game. Just bought a 2003 XB9S with 7.5k miles.

The bike won't start. I've got it in Neutral and It only clicks, but won't turn over. When I purchased the bike from a private sale, it started. I've tried giving it some throttle, no dice.

Thanks for any help.

yep...battery gone bye bye [sad]

and 1 tip, don't touch the throttle when starting ;)

Guess it is the battery, thanks guys.

I can't seem to find in the owners manual what type of battery the 03 XB9S uses. I'm sure it's listed in the service manual, which I don't have. Does anyone know what type of battery I need? May I buy it at Sears?

Thnx again, you guys are great.

i suggest getting a original buell/hd battery or yuasa.

they are more pricey than others, but are stronger and will last much longer than others ;)

The type is on the battery itself :D Most times you can get an aftermarket one at most autoparts stores "Autozone" etc. Get yourself a battery tender while your at it too. You pull the battery in the winter ( bring it inside if possible) and leave it on the tender. This will GREATLY increase the life of your battery. I had the same battery in my honda for 8 years with no problems what so ever [up]
