Tow truck is enroute so they tell me. I'll be calling EBR once I get to the HD store. Warranty expired last month. Bike has 8,039 miles and it's been a great first bike but this stator issue just puts a bad rap to this bike.

That sucks man, I had my first stator and harness replaced at 5500 miles and have 13,500 now (8000 miles on second stator) and no issues, I guess it's a hit or miss situation but if it fails me again I'm getting the ebr setup

Yes, I am literally mouse clicks away from checking out at the EBR Store site. The funny part about this is on Monday while coming home from work at a stoplight I watched the Volts dip down to 12.5. The temps were easily into the 70's and I knew the second fan would turn on at one of the lights I was at. By the time I got home though it was back up to 14.1-14.2 nice and steady. The BATT light came on briefly,
guess I should have thought about it a little more.

This morning it came down again at one of the lights and stayed down. I made it another 20 or so miles when the display kicked off at around 9v or so. At that point I pulled the clutch and eased onto an off ramp.

When my first one died it did 12 miles from my house, I made it 1 mile from my house and pushed it the rest of the way, took like 2 hours to push it.

I haven't lost mine yet....but I have an 08 ready to put in.
You thinking about upgrading the vr as well?

Im ordering the stator kit ! (Just did the ebr clutch sleeve today) . Also on stator # 2 and dont want to be left stranded like last time ( I75 in detroit)! Jwoody I hear ya .

No real plans for the VR as of yet. I've read quite a few Threads here and on Badweb but haven't really seen an elegant solution to a VR.

It's the damn nice weather we are having! I have consistently kept the RPM's up above 4.5k since this last Stator, MPG be damned. Always tried to avoid routes with little to no stoplights and plenty of room to stretch her legs. Hardly use 6th unless I need better than 80mph and want to conserve some gas. Then again at 80mph in 6th she sits at about 5.1k.

Stupid Stator...

Are you serious? You pushed it for two hours? Where do you live? That sucks!

New jersey, it was 2 in the am and didn't want to bother my parents and about 3/5ths of that mile was up hill, got my exercise that night for sure!

On my first stator/VR/battery change for ~ 4k mls. Was able to keep the crispy stator and VR, not sure the VR is bad. Commute on the Spyder during the week and the CR lives on the battery tender until weekend warrior time...maybe weekend worrier is a better term. I look at the voltage constantly, try for open area travel and not inner city riding. It's rather easy to become CR inebriated and forget for awhile. One thing I am going to make note of is battery age, these sealed batteries have been a problem for many and it has been suggested, maybe on this forum too, is to change the battery out on it's date of expiration. One of these batteries going bad can really tax the stator. Also, one more +1 about losing the HD oil, worst oil I have seen come out of an engine after just 3k miles, especially from just open road riding/non-inner city riding. Not sure if Mobil(rumored) is the provider, but it's definitely not the Mobil I've been using in my other machines. Looked and drained more like Hershey's syrup.

I ride all around city/highway and im just creeping up in 10,000 miles on this stator, had a relay go bad on me tho at 14,100 miles, replaced that and the battery and no more issues.

Sorry to hear this, but it's still a beautiful bike even if it is parked on the side of a road.

It is still an excellent machine. Born to run!

Paypal'd EBR this morning for their stator. Interesting enough he talked to using the 2010 Service Manual for the final torque specs. Also mentioned using Loctite 272 High Temperature, High Strength Red Threadlocker. After application of Loctite torque to 210lbs or so and back off 2 revolutions and torque final to 300lbs.

1190RS Stator design? I'll have pics in a few days. Badweb had a few Threads about it but nothing definitive.

Nice! When you put it in it would be awesome if you coul do a small write up on it if you're doing it yourself. Is it plug and play into the charging harness?

I know that EBR stator is not in my mindset as an accessory or performance upgrade, but I am saving for one. Wondering if it's a better option than geting the old stator rewound.

Mine finally went as well . Lucky I nursed it home.Getting the rewind with the extra coating .Will let you guys know how it works.True test is summer riding here in Arizona
