Airbag motorcycle jacket anyone?

what happens at high speed real life accidents could rip hole in the bags quickly or puncture them or could pop from very high impact ..does it have all the regular armor like other motorcycle jackets like along the spine and elsewhere, seen one at the shoulders ...but looks okay for slower impacts and slow wrecks . how do you deflate it and change the air cylinder or do have to replace the jacket all together. that would suck if you just fell over and it went off. that would be first impression of and questions about it, i would do alot of research on them before spending any money on one, like actually seeing how they hold up at high real crashes , like to see a video of that how it reacts and what does it look like after the crash and what does the rider look like after the crashes what does a anyone say that has used one and crashed in it.

If your going for an airbag jacket go for the dainese d-air system or the spidi jacket.. the dainese has actually been in a crash and worked. I'm not sure if the d-air is available yet but it is the more sophisticated has a brain box instead of tether cord so it deploys as soon as the computer recognizes crash conditions... so even if bike hits ground with you still holding on you have bags instead or the tether which if you don't go far enough away from bike will not deploy of possibly deploys after impact... and both of those still have ce armor

I'm sure these things work as intended and they will only get better and marginally less expensive, unlike cars where they are almost standard features now, not every rider will opt for this so price may never be truly affordable.

if i was a spokesman of this product id take the time to answer all your Q's nativexb12r,.. but im not so ima tell you to do your home work and no you dont have to read but ummm watch the damn videos i linked! :p lol
they answer every Q u asked.

good find browland,.. and good points. im scared to look at how much a jacket with a computer in it is though, lol

so alfa,..
if every rider did opt for these price WOULD be more affordable? demand drives down price? hmmm... i think if less wanted these they'd have to lower there price to get rid of what they already had then maybe i would allow myself to afford one SINCE i need a bike jacket anyway, lol
damn im so close to pulling the trigger one of these, ugh!

If everyone wanted one then demand would go up and others would join the competition for that supply. Of course if the technology where so propitiatory that no one could make it? hmm... But we all know that there are more than one way to skin a cat and there would be a few different air delivery methods developed.

Remember that manufacturing cost will go down over time when set up and R&D and all that are recouped.

"manufacturing cost will go down over time when set up and R&D and all that are recouped"...
Ya rich people often lower there prices after they get rich. [down]

i think i don't like the Dainese browland,.. after looking at videos it doesn't seem to protect the rib area with an airbag, just the shoulder and neck area. There website is slick as hell looking though,.. but when you're looking at each jacket i don't see talk of it having the airbag system or a computer. Maybe something is "lost in translation" lol

It's just a fact that fixed cost are recouped and every unit made later will cost less to make. Sure salaries and utilities are variable cost but the other stuff is fixed. Simple basic economics that has nothing to do with sales price the but cost of making the product. When demand gets so hi for a product others see an opportunity to make money and enter the market and supply will go up.

Here's a simple example one you can relate to. How much are LCD TV's today as opposed to five or ten years ago? More? No they are less. Why? Because of all the things I stated before. Air bags in cars. Are they more expensive today or less? No mystery here.

dude i own a business, and a thriving one in this **** economy at that, so i think i know that what you say prices will come down once companies make there initial investment back is BS. I sure as **** didn't lower my prices once i got in the black, in fact i raised them because i made the product better, lol

Airbags in cars is a retarded example since there mandatory equipment made so by the government, and LCDs don't have a single thing in common with a device that can be sold under the pretense 'you cant put a price on safety'.

I think when the technology gets to the point like airbags or even seat belts in cars where you can really rely on it, and bike makers and governments start making it standard equipment, then prices will come down, but until then, if i owned the company making these i sure as **** wouldn't lower my price less no one was buying or a slew of other makers we're under selling me and i wasn't selling any because of it.

but i really dont care to talk about the economy of this product or any, id prefer to talk about the technology of it and if there really gonna save your life. good point someone made earlier about if not going far enough from the bike it not going off and helping you.

"The tests conducted in the D-Tec laboratories document shock absorption values decidedly superior to those offered by traditional composite protections that work in synergy with the D-air system to create a complete head-to-toe protection system"

Meaning you have to use other types of protection with it. I would assume back and rib protection since those are the areas is doesn't cover. I'm not crash expert but i still think the full upper body airbag jacket systems are a riders better bet, and there cheaper too.

not really (no disrespect but) 51 Lb mass at 15 mph is not a high speed crash , .didnt see any that showed real high speed crash on youtube either maybe i missed one or two, post a link showing one . very interesting product but not really interrested in it for me,(no i didnt read the websites (didnt have time ) i was just giving my first thoughts and what i would ask and want to know about it if i was buying one or investing in it or selling the product.) but like to see how well it sells , how well, and how exactly they will market it. what companies make these , they need more styles ,other than the touring euro syles in the safemoto.com site. any in leather or other styles?
browland do you have video or article of that crash?

also wondering if any states or countries are or will be trying to require something like these airbag jacket in the near or distant future like some have requiring helmets or insurance of at a certain amount to cover medical costs. ???

more already answered Q's dude, if you got time to write all that, let alone just write the actual Q you got time to look it up on the provided link.

video of that crash,.. umm you know where, what, and who, if you read the article so i don't know, look it up? you got all the info to find it right in front of ya.

as for a high high speed crash,.. who the hells volunteering for that? I guess we need test dummies, i nominate nativexb12r, lol

bottom line i guess, its gonna help if you're hit where the airbag is,.. so gimmy the biggest roll of bubble wrap and me and your girlfriend will be safe in it, lol

wow buddhabuell,.. those prices are god damn near affordable. good find!
i cant find anywhere on that site where they link to motoair.com though,.. makes me wonder if there jackets are the real deal,.. and what the hell is up with that Fuel Saver item there selling? hmmm.... anyone ever bought from this site and got a real deal MOTOAIR Airbag Jacket? If so i might buy.

when I researched airbag jackets last year is was the Singapore company whos website I posted that peaked my interest in them, altho I have not purchased one yet, I will no doubt add one to my ATGATT arsenal sometime this year...
:)

The vid you posted of the guy who wrecked wearing his is actually wearing one from the site I posted!!
The vid is in the testamonial section!
:D

ya so they took the video from youtube and slapped it in a testamonial section, big deal.. doesn't prove to me the guy in the vid bought his jacket FROM that specific site. I don't know there prices just seem awful low to me. but they do accept paypal so if i don't get it i guess i could bitch and get my money back,.. maybe there legit.
