Morning Buellers. Just wanted to share some pics of my latest project. I really like the look of the new Triumph Daytona 675R, and I wanted to try and emulate the white with red rear subframe look. I had to relocate the battery, move a bunch of the wiring around, and fabricate a new undertail piece. I will be refinishing the wheels in satin black with red striping, new shock spring in red or yellow, and brake/clutch levers will be silver. Let me know what you all think. Sorry for the pic quality, took them in a rush this morning before work.

2 each there own.. I'm not a fan of red.. it does look different. Maybe it will grow on ya I guess.. A+ for effort in doing something different

it looks out of place right now. i think it would look better with a black frame, swingarm, and wheels with the red pinstripe like the 675r.

Thats what I am going for. Just having the red suframe and nothing else to match at this point does make it stick out like a sore thumb. I wanted to get the subframe painted before the weather got too cold in my neck of the woods. The wheels and other items will get done at soem point in time when I have the money to get them powder coated. Gold brake levers will be gone this evening replaced with silver ones.

I think it looks pretty cool, although I think the levers would look better in red or black, since the wheels will be black [up]

I'm doing something like this this winter i like that open look though can you put up some closer pictures of just the tail?

I like your cut job on the tail, subframe is ok too. I think making a new subframe out of round tubing would look the best though.

My initial plan was to weld up a completely new subframe out of round stock, and maybe I will this winter if I am bored. I was also thinking of adding to the current subframe, but it is made of aluminum, and I do not have a TIG setup. I also do not have the best pipe bending equipment.

I will take some close ups with the seat and plastic removed. I basically had to cut the battery tray and move it back and up about 5 inches, and move/extend the wiring around a bit. I then made a new undertray out of an old plastic trash can I had lying around.

Here is a pic of the other side. I haven't tied up the wires yet, as I am letting the paint get a little harder.

very cool looking. Looks like it would probably get much better cooling during the summer with all that area opened up as well. [up]

doesn't fit the character of the bike. Looks a lot like ducatis trellis frame, but its misplaced in the rear. but the fact its your own and came up with it yourself is bad ass

when you can, get pics of the battery relocation and the wiring that was added, maybe look at the 1190RS subframe and get ideas for fabricating a new one. I like the look of it, just not the square stock material, should have been tubed from the beginning design when Buell built 'em. nice work[up]

The idea and execution are good [up] It just doesn't fit the bike. If it were to have a trellis frame then yes, it would fit. But it flows with nothing else on the bike. But as long as you like it, who cares.

part of me agrees with the idea that the subframe should be made out of round tubing, but part of me thinks there isn't any other round tubing on this bike, so the square tubing kinda works. I think once I color coordinate things a bit, it will look better. The blue spring throws things off a bit, as do the gold/orange brake and clutch levers. IDK, I like it. I think it is different. I bet with black wheels and a black frame it would look pretty tight

[up] I like it.

Not a fan of red though. I think it would look sick if you painted/powder coated the sub-frame white.

Diggin' It... Its different. I like the cut on the tail plastic. Maybe a red shark fin shaped metal piece under the front part of the seat that flows into the top bar of the subframe... just to give it more of a streamlined look. Nice, though.

Oh and maybe extend the red to the fairing stay and levers.

I like it. Not a big fan of the red though.

I think black would look awesome. One of those deals where no one knows its different until they take a closer look.
