I live in a city. Long Beach, Ca. I've been keeping my eyes peeled the last few days. Haven't seen them at all. Just got a call from my insurance. They said the the impact was so hard that it did damage the frame. Mounting points here and there are cracked/bent. The bike actually landed hard enough on its side that the frame puck was completely destroyed, and the frame still cracked on its side. My seat rails shattered, but so did the mounting points for the seat rails. I can't even imagine the level of engine damage. And I slid with the bike for about 50 feet down the street. Even the seat got cracked down the middle. Believe me, if there was a way I can receive full value for her and still get to keep her, I'd jump on that. But I need every penny I can get to get another motorcycle asap. Especially if I'm trying to get another Buell. So I think the best I can do is try to get the information for where the insurance is going to stash it to get auctioned. Then I'll release that information here on the forum. But looking at her after the accident. I think the only parts that can be salvaged off her are maybe the headlight assembly, gauge cluster, flyscreen, maybe the rims(doubtful), front brake caliper(possibly brake cylinder and line too), air filter, and some internal parts i.e. rotor, stator, rectifier, wire harness(possibly), heads, and that's prob just about it. I wouldn't reuse anything else on that Buell.

I heard a story around a campfire or something like that,,, the details are fuzzy, but what i recall was someone telling me there was only 20 SCG model bikes sold in California and of those 11 of them are wrecked, guess its 12 now.

Save the SCG! Save the SCG! (repeat x10)

I'm going to do my best to save the scg. But my financial situation isn't going to make it easy if at all possible. I've put a lot of money into keeping this one on the road. And I refuse to keep them stored just to keep them alive. They need to be ridden to be kept alive. I don't know how many tines people asked if she was a triumph out Ducati. And I have to correct them. This is a piece of America! Buell, by Eric Buell. Best believe my next bike will be another scg. Off of this forum too, but I don't believe I have the time and money to save this one. So I would love if somebody on this forum can save her. I'll give her up for whatever I can afford to. But only with the promise that she will be back on the road some day. If she is parted out, that is still one less Buell scg on the road. I'm going to hopefully work with squidbuellie to make sure I can get what she is worth from the insurance and still keep her, but in the end, I need whatever I can get from my insurance

yep listen to Mr Squid, he just wen thru this recently, believe me, you can come out of this okay, and still get enough for another bike, eventually the bike would reenter the parts system,,, but why let some insurance company, auction house, and dealer make it? Why not you? Or worse, some unscrupulous dealer buys it, rebuilds it and peddles it shoddily repaired to some unsuspecting Noob,,,,,,,
If you can get it back, and there IS help availible to help you,,, then at least it can go to a good home.

Save the SCG! Save the SCG!:)

Well I got the word from my insurance. It seems they are giving me a fair deal. I would love to keep the engine and some other internal parts, but like I stated earlier, I really don't think I'm in a financial situation to take the time to part her out. I would love to know that she is going to a good home though, or at the very least help breath life back into some of the Buells on this forum. After all this forum has done the same for her. So if somebody is willing to pay the difference upfront so I don't have to part her out, ill take her back from my insurance. And maybe we can work something out so i can keep the engine

I've been having trouble posting pictures since I've joined this forum, so if you want pictures, pm your email and I can send them
