Yea i have come to that realization a while ago, thats why we decide to take only twisty lake tahoe mtn rides, so we can go all out around the turns and still stay together, i do feel like it takes more skill on my part just to ride my rig as opposed to theyre rice rockets and still be on their rear though.
General anrkizm sir... i wold be honored if you would be the first to rank my repuation!

Don't be too jealous, we only get 3 comfterble months a year to enjoy it!!! but man is it nice Jun through early Sep. I think i will move to somewhere warm year round again, Hawaii was nice for 2 years, we'll see where the Coast Guard brings me next[up]

I have done about 135 on my 2004 xb12s. Flat stright. had one hell of a time trying to tuck my 6'2" body to become dynamic enough. Helmet was almost looking straight down behind windscreen, eyes were up at the top of my skull. Not something I need to do ever again.

Anyone have info on the 1125r? I haven't had any issues with it climbing up to speed but have stopped at about 120.

I have heard all the stuff about my Uly not being as fast as other bikes. But the other day coming home from work I got a real world comparisom. I rolled on a Hyabusa in traffic (2 lane rode). When traffic cleared, I got after it at the same time as the Busa. I hung on his tail to about 120. That is way fast enough for me and allows me to clear traffic anytime I want.

I've never met a person that bought a Buell (XB) for its speed ability but bought it for it's cornering ability and it's ability to stand out in a crowd. I had a BMW K1200R , while it was fast as heck it never brought me the excitement of the 3 Buell XBs i've had.
Now the 1125R / CR , that's a different story !

By the time your bike lost him at 120 he was just shifting into 2nd gear. Sadly I'm gonna have to agree that he wasn't really giving it everything that it had.

Like everyone else has said.. stop light to stop light.. can take anything out there.. Ill let you do your 150 down the straights.. thtas not my thing..But blowin by you in a corner as they jamming the brake, and im twisting on the throttle.. Bring it all day baby!:D [smirk]

Does anyone else power shift while getting on it like that with their buells? I do and it shifts super smooth. Just makes sure you are off the throttle and i listened to my engine when to shift and while watching my gopro video, i would be shifting at 6k. Nice :)

My short list when buying a bike recently came down to an XB12S/SCG or Triumph S3. Both great naked bikes but very different.
It came down to 2 things:
- XB12S fits me the best no lowering kit needed
- XB12S fits with my riding - flickable, stable, light
- and the clincher was that I didn't want a bike that works best in the 80-140 MPH range. I KNOW little self control I have and don't want to go to jail at my age. [smirk]

Having personally ridden a Busa to well over an XB's top speed and having owned an XB9 and my Current XB12 I can tell you without a doubt that the mighty Busa will stomp all over a Buell from pretty much 0mph on up to where the Buell tops out. They are inconceivably fast if you've never ridden one; they practically warp space/time. Twist the road up on itself though and there is simply no comparing them.

The Buells are powerful enough for a street bike and are great fun to ride. They are supremely useful as a day to day bike as the low end power makes them effortless to ride on the streets. For an all out thrill ride it's nearly impossible to beat the Japanese bikes but living with them day to day and putting some more serious mileage on them (not just a ride to some hangout to shoot the breeze) is a whole nother' thing.
I had a GSXR750 before this Buell and it was an absolute hoot when it was cracked open and that tach was swinging past 12g but my Bolt is a MUCH better daily rider and long distance bike. I'd love to have another GSXR but I'm not about to give up the perfect street bike (Buell) to get one.

Owened a ton of bikes of all flavors. Unfortunately I4 japs are insane. With a skilled rider there is no keeping up under any circumstance.

Big twins just don't have the guts. The new I4 have just as much torque as our "torqy" twins all the way through the power curve.

It is much like trying to race a 4 cylinder car against an 8 cylinder.

I like to compare it to the Porsche world. For example a late model twin turbo & gt3rs are very close in pricing but are built for 2 entirely different purposes. Twin turbo - straight line car with some cornering capability. Gt3rs - normally aspirated, and throttle response exactly when you need it, built for corners. Fast? Hell yes but, would get murdered by the twin turbo in a drag race.

I like to think my xb is a precision tool built to do 1thing extremely well. Another thing is most jap bike guys are exactly like twin turbo owners. They have to be the baddest dude on the block only to find out that there's always someone that's just a little faster.

Trust me,if he wanted to leave you in the dust after 40 he could have(Well the bike could have) he could have just been a poser and was afraid to open it up and you are a better rider than he. One of my best friend's has an 02 FZ1 and he is the best street rider I know, and he will leave my 9R crying after 40 any day of the week, and often does. I've run a high 11 in the QM and it sucks to be around a bike and rider like him.
