Hi All,

Happy to be back on the forum. Sold an xb12r back in December. Just picked up this gorgeous X1 with 3k miles on it. Guy im getting it from picked it up at an estate auction a few years back and just doesn't ride it as much as he should so he decided to part with it. Having to trek up the state to pick it up but its worth it. Any and all info you guys can share about these bikes, particularly what could be problematic for me or should be off the bat upgraded (aside from the obvious upgrades: exhaust, intake, etc.) would be greatly appreciated. It's entirely stock except for K&N oval intake. Anyone had experiences with those on the x1? Seen many an x1 photo by now and haven't come across many pics (if any at all). I like the Forcewinder, but don't want to buy it if its not all that worth it. Also going to upgrade exhaust. Supertrapp compared to D&D? Gonna go for a new tail set up as well. More pictures of project to come. Thanks for any advice!!

This page is loaded with good info. It's a little outdated... Some dead links and after market parts shown that don't exist any more. But worth a read.

I have a forcewinder intake primarily because I like the look. I have read that the oval filters are actually better flow wise. Pipe wise.. Vance & Hines.. d&d.. hawk... Supertrapp.. are all nice. You will want to load a the race map if you do a pipe.

Congrats on the bike. 3k is crazy low miles. 2001?

Welcome back.

Glad to be back! It's a 2000 actually. Thanks for the link. You and I were in touch a while back about your tail section. Your bike looks great by the way. Truly my inspiration for getting an x1 to begin with. I never followed up with you because that bike deal ending up falling through and a few months later here I am. If anyone has a good race map for stock exhaust, high flow intake it would be greatly appreciated.

Yes.. i remember you now! Thanks for the compliment. Race map won't make a noticeable difference with just an intake. Wait till you get a pipe.

If you decide you want a carbon fiber tank cover... I might just trade you for your black one... [smirk]

The air filter setup on your bike is a Prospect Hill can. I had one on my bike for a while. Only thing i didnt like about it is, my knee always hit it. I ended up redrilling the 3 mounting holes on it and clocking it to be parallel with the lower angled frame tube. Give lots of knee room then.

Good to know, tx purpony. You and Nwrider are at fault for my new purchase by the way. Sold the 12r to take the x1 plunge! Pretty stoked

Don't blame us kristo! I have been thinking more and more about buying an xb but I don't think I will ever sell my x1. I am sure it will continue to evolve as will yours.

Welcome to your new addiction sir.

Very nice looking bike by the way! Love the blue frame, same as NwRider's.

Nuclear Blue! Which some how translates into blurple?!?

Kristo.. You have PM wheels too! I believe you can fit a 180 tire if ya wanted. 5.5" rim vs. the 5" rim on my bike.

Nice to have another tuber on board!

THe bikes are a bit of a blurple.[up] My girlfriend likes it for that very reason. Now she doesn't mind me getting another bike as much. Yeah the wheels are nice. I've never been a chrome guy until i got this bike. I'm not minding it so much. These bikes are badass and i'm loving mine so far (stock!). Glad to hear i can run 180's. I was going to throw a pair on there anyhow. They're still on original tires and dont grip for s----. The rear rockerbox gasket is weeping some and the shock has some weep going on as well. The shocks were known for needing to get replaced yeah?...down to a 14 or 14.7 i read somewhere (?). Was the shock factory recalled?
Small stuff aside the bike is in excellent condition and it's great to have my addiction back! :D
