I live near Phoenix, AZ where it will be over 100 degrees for four months straight. I have a Scorpion mesh jacket, but I am looking at something new.
What do you recommend for sturdy, cool and economical protection when it is 112 outside?
I know anything will be a compromise, sturdy vs. economical; protection vs. airflow; etc.
What do you wear? What do you like?

I know it might be hard to come across, but the Buell mesh jacket is what I have and its awesome in the summer. The inner lining comes out and its just mesh, its light as well. The armor is removable too. The only time in the summer I was too hot in it was when I was sitting in traffic.

If you cant find one, I want to say Joe Rocket makes a very similar one.

This jacket seems to have solid reviews. The REV'IT company makes a high quality product. I ran into a guy that was wearing one this past summer, summer in Texas I might add, and he had nothing but good things to say about it.

And it's on clearance right now. It's like a sore peter!

When the liner is removed you feel like you are riding in a t-shirt.

I have an Alpinestar that is similar. It does not breathe nearly as good but it fits me better.

I have to original "Phoenix" jacket and dig it in the summer. Hopefully I never have to test it out or slide too far on it but it is super cool when you get moving.

I wear this in the summer. Without the liner its pretty much mesh on the front. Its not too bad.

I've worn the Buell Turbulent jacket for 3 years now. Great in the cold and great ventilation options for the hot weather. Good luck finding one though. I live in north Texas and the jacket has done very well.

i agree with the joe rocket 5.0. it breaths so good that its almost like your not wearing a jacket.

I have to agree with Nwrider. The Buell mesh jacket is nice up to the 95-100 degree days, at that point their isnt anything thats comfy. But they have gotten really expensive over the last few years. I saw one go for $400 on ebay. Glad I have two:D

Wow, I've never seen so many people here agree on the same thing:D

I just ordered a Joe Rocket Phoenix 5.0
Thanks, everyone, for your opinions and reviews.[up]

Joe Rocket zip-out - same as vance580's. Work great - still get hotter than hell baking in the 95F 95% weather here in KS.
