Best Sounding Buell I've EVER heard! V-Twin for that matter

Yes testing was done on xb12's. It was tested on a couple xb12 track bikes with great results. It would make a great short track muffler. I'm currently doing some r&d work on a track only muffler for guys running big bore kits. Once completed I will be sponsoring a rider on one of the other forums.

hey tattoo72,the exhaust note sounds different on the red bike with the polished frame in the very first post here, louder than the others, why is that? also what is the sound differance between the qt and ld? could we hear a sound clip of a ld pipe?

The one in the first video is a muffler that xopti made. It is similar to the DIY muffler on my website. The are both have baffled internals (think Flowmaster). Plus Xopti is very rev happy with his bike.:D Sound level wise the QT falls between stock and a race can. The LD is slightly louder than a race can. The QT is on Xopti's in the vid I posted above. The muffler pictured on my kitchen table above is a dual outlet LD. I will mount it up to my bike tomorrow and try to get a video so you can hear the difference.

I really like the dual tipped ld one on the table, would this pipe work well with head work,as I will be having some done at a later date. And the louder the better for me,loud pipes save lives during commute hour:D

Yes the dual tip ld would work realy well with head work. It can also be made with an ajustable baffle to help tune midrange tq/hp. If loud is what you are after then you might want to look at the Black Majic muffler on my website. [up] It is mufflers pg.3

Does the Black Majic muffler perform like the others? How does the adjustable baffle work? Do you access it from outside the can?

The muffler performs great on the street. It has linear power through the whole rpm range. It is louder than the voodoo mufflers. That is why I refer to it as the "hooligan" muffler. It's not so much a "baffle" as it is more of a tuning device. It doesn't cut down the exaust level. It is there to adjust the amount of reversion pulses in the header/collector. Set it open for peak horsepower. Set it closed for maximum torque and midrange power. It is fully adjustable anywhere from full open to full closed. It is accessed from outside the muffler. It can be accessed while the muffler is on the bike.

i am looking for a stock can right now as i am running a jardine rt1, which is my next question, how does the black majic compare to the jardine rt1, in performance and sound level? and would i need to remap my stock emc? thanks.

hey tattoo, any comments on the jardine rt1 vs black majic noise level/performance? (no pun intended with the little guy from fantasy island,JK:D)

Noise wise the Black Majic is slightly quieter than the Jardine. As the Jardine is basicly like running a straigh pipe. Power wise it makes very linear power and there is a noticable increase in power compared to stock. I had a Jardine on my xb9 for awhile. Personaly I did not care for it. The fit and finish left a bit to be desired especialy the chin fairing brackets. I could never seem to get a good seal at the front elbow, repacking it was a pain. Plus I never realy had to much faith in the rear support clamp. To me the only thing I like about it was how light it was.
Almost forgot to add that yes it can be run on the stock ecm. But like any muffler out there if you want to truely get 100% from your bike then you should tune your ecm to the combination of parts that you are running.

ya,i saw that video on youtube,it's a stock pipe that they cut open and took all the internals out of to get that sound, not very good in the performance dept i would guess.

Here are a few installed pics of a Voodoo LD with internal elbow and daul stainless outlets.

And here is a real crappy vid. It does this muffler no justice. I need a camera with a better microphone. It is supposed to be sunny and 45 degrees on sunday. So i'm gonna try to get a drive by video.

Hey Tattoo,

How much would you charge if I was to send you the pipe to do the work ? Just labor charges that is.

Tattoo,
Id be interested too depending on prices. Where are you located in the Northeast? Im near Albany, NY.

Hey Tattoo, first off I would like to say I love the work you are doing and it is great that there are guys out there making quality aftermarket parts for Buells. Ok, now that I am done kissing ass, correct me if I am wrong, but does Xopti have a 12 header on his 9? and if so, how is that effecting the performance of the bike with the voodoo exhaust. I have a 9 right now and would consider changing out the header and making one of these exhaust if it will increase the performance. Thanks

It's funny that you ask about the 12 header on a 9. I just purchased a 12 header off of Ebay for my 9. The 12 header helps increase mid and top range performance. Bottom stays the about the same. To make it work correctly the header should be wrapped to hold the heat in and help with scavaging. Also there is an addition mod that needs to be performed to the muffler to help with reversion pulses. The ecm will also have to be tuned differently with the addition of the 12 header.
