So I'm riding my Firebolt 12R to work, and the check engine light comes on. About a minute later, the bike starts loosing power and I have to high rev it constantly to keep juice to the engine. About a minute after that even high revs couldnt save it and the bike just died. While pushing it home, I decided to try to crank it again and while all the lights came on, I just got a click click click clicking sound from the starter button...not enouugh juice to turn the engine over.

Have you guys ran into this issue before?

The bike's being towed in for repair but I'm not sure if my garage V-Twin mechanic will know what the issue is with Buells.

Thanks in advance.

I guess at a loss of charging - might be as simple as loose battery terminals.

Have a look at the link on my profile for the '77 connector check if it is pre'08 XB.

If you catch that early it is a simple fix.

Of course it could be worse and be a regulator or a stator but check the simple things first. The downloadable manuals on this site have the procedure for checking the stator and regulator if it comes to that.

same thing happened to my 9r a while ago when I still had it. Check engine light came on, once I stopped at next light the bike died... turned out to be my voltage regulator/ stator... both will probably have to be replaced.

but like Rays said... start off simple.
