Brembo brake mod

Buellxb Forum

Help Support Buellxb Forum:

hey goofy question, do we just leave the rear brake switch off when we do rear master cyl replacement to the brembo version? [confused]

Sorry, 07xb12sgrin, I don't have an answer for ya.

I'm on vacation, with a '97 Ducati 916 caliper cleaned up and ready to transplant, EVLXB's bracket at the ready, at HOME!

Well, at least I have something to look forward to other than to return to work.

i have the caliper ready to go on as well, but i got the mastercyl with it and some people have said that the master helps out a little. state inspections say that both brakes have to work the light.[smirk]

If you can put up a pic of your MC, I may have a switch that will work. You'll have to splice into the Buell wiring though.

All,
If one wanted to just buy a new one for XB12XT (ulysses) does anyone know the module number and where is the best place to buy it in the USA? :)>.
Thanks
Straw

One aside on this project: I have a Speedbleeder in the OE caliper. I suspect that one of these will greatly aid the bleeding of the Brembo caliper. But, the Brembo takes the SB1010S fitting, which is different from OE.

HTH.

Me too, me too!

I scored a caliper from a 1997 Ducati 916. You can see from the pic (sorry, I didn't take one before I mounted it) that it's slightly different from the ones from more recent Monsters.

EVLXB's bracket (powdercoated locally):

Mounts up just fine, using the original line (this is on an XBSs).

BTW: If you see how important the tolerances are for that bracket, you won't b*tch about the cost. Seriously.

I added the Braking wave rotor at the same time. A guy over on BadWeb had gotten it by mistake (thought it was for a tuber), so I got a pretty good deal.

This is largely a cosmetic mod, as we all know. I'm snooping around for a rear master cylinder that matches the caliper better, in hopes of a little more stopping power. But, it's no worse than stock. Mechanically, it's easy. The only thing you have to work with is torquing the bolts that mount the caliper to the bracket. You have to mount that with the caliper off the bike, which is a little tough.

I also added a SpeedBleeder bleed fitting. The bleed screw is in a terrible place, and that made it easy. DON'T drain the line or the caliper if you want to use a SpeedBleeder, because you have to have some fluid in the line for it to work.

Hello,

I like to do this mod. I've a brake but no caliper.

Does anyone know if there still made?
Or does someone has the measurements/drawings?

thanks for helping a Dutch Buellrider.

It doesn't look like it. The spacing of the separate bracket might be 84mm, but the mounting holes on the caliper itself don't look like they'd line up with the caliper on the disc properly. Keep looking. There are plenty of these out there.

Hi all
having done the brembo hidden caliper mod i was a bit p/offed with performance, even with the brembo m/c
so did a bit of measuring of the ratio between caliper/master cylinder , anyway to cut a long story.
get yourselve a master cylinder from a new yamaha xt125r/x the holes line up perfectly and the brake power is excellent with perfect feel

dak im ordering a new caliper, it comes with pads, does the master you are referring to bolt right on to a firebolt? if so i will look into that

Hi jasoncummings64
my bike is a ulysses xb12 2007
not sure about other xb12
models, from picture i've seen they look the same
and the hole centres certaily are, perhaps someone could comment
cheers

got the bolts, got it installed and realized the banjo nolt is diff... forgot someone mentioned that, anyone have a link for a banjo bolt?? i found one at a local shop, but the hole is significantly smaller and it was a bit sloppy, so its temporarily workin till i get the RIGHT banjo, help anyone.... i cant lock up the rear even if i stomp
