Me too, me too!
I scored a caliper from a 1997 Ducati 916. You can see from the pic (sorry, I didn't take one before I mounted it) that it's slightly different from the ones from more recent Monsters.
EVLXB's bracket (powdercoated locally):
Mounts up just fine, using the original line (this is on an XBSs).
BTW: If you see how important the tolerances are for that bracket, you won't b*tch about the cost. Seriously.
The results:
I added the Braking wave rotor at the same time. A guy over on BadWeb had gotten it by mistake (thought it was for a tuber), so I got a pretty good deal.
This is largely a cosmetic mod, as we all know. I'm snooping around for a rear master cylinder that matches the caliper better, in hopes of a little more stopping power. But, it's no worse than stock. Mechanically, it's
easy. The only thing you have to work with is torquing the bolts that mount the caliper to the bracket. You have to mount that with the caliper off the bike, which is a little tough.
I also added a SpeedBleeder bleed fitting. The bleed screw is in a terrible place, and that made it easy. DON'T drain the line or the caliper if you want to use a SpeedBleeder, because you have to have some fluid in the line for it to work.
