I have a 2003 Buell Firebolt xb9r.

The bike will not run. After turning the key and running the starter a couple of times, it will start up but will die a few seconds after and it is not responsive to the throttle at all. There is no engine light that comes on and everything else seems to work the way it should. Some have told me a TPS reset would solve this....any ideas?

You can always do a Throttle Position Re-set that never Hurts. Now after you check the plugs and Terminals on battery and the Throttle cables after that, if the same problem persists,You may want to Check the Pumps Pressure. If the Bike will start up, Does it stall right away? You mentioned no throttle Response. Take the Front Fuel line loose(no key on)Leave the Start/Kill switch off.Up at the Throttle body you should be able to GENTLY remove the fuel line. Get a Clean Gas can or Bucket put it in there don't forget to kinda anchor the fuel line so it doesn't pop out. Now, Turn on the Key,[Eye Protection] Now Start/Kill switch on, Have you Got fuel pressure coming out? This way you know its getting fuel. You won't know the pressure but at least you know it is getting fuel. I figure the Inner Fuel Filter may be the orignal. I use a pressure guage for testing in my shop. But at least this way you can at least get an idea. It's a 2003 so this will hopefully get you in the right area to work from.post up when you get it.Hope it's a simple fix.`Jimi

so.. last night i got on my bike and the fuel pump was louder than usual, i actually heard it over my idle, and at lights.. i have however put on a new vented airbox cover, so i was hoping thats what it was, but today i rode it all day and i didnt hear it at all, maybe it was because it was during the day in traffic? or is this the sign of my fuel pump going out?

The noise you're hearing from the fuel pump is the Fuel Pressure Regulator. It's normal and varies day to day. I just put a new one on my bike and the new one is quieter than the old one.

I have not been able to get back home to the bike yet, but I noticed that I should have told some more information.

Before its current state listed above, about a month ago the bike would start and run just fine. However, when i shut the bike off it would not start again. This happened a few times when I would just make a short trip down the street to walmart or something. I would have to let the bike sit for a while and then try to start again in order for it to run.

you can buy from the parts store

the one on your bike is a Walbro #4500270 (521) most of the local stores didnt carry walbro , so check on the internet .
