I have a 2003 XB9R that keeps blowing Ignition Fuses. I put the battery back in, positive to positive, negative to negative, and each time I turn the key to on, it blows the ignition fuse. Any thoughts? It doesn't appear that anything is burnt out as I've traced the wires. Thank you

dupe: you have a short somewhere. keep tracing and pay particular attention to the wiring loom at the steering neck area. on firebolts most all electrical components and connections are in the fairing area as opposed to uly and lightnings which are under the seat. simplest things first: replace ignition fuse, have run switch in off position, turn ignition on. fuse ok? now wiggle key. fuse pops? faulty ignition switch. if not, leave ignition on then start checking turn signal connections next. if any are loose and contact each other it will pop your fuse. but i'd start in the neck area. post back with results

Thank you!! I'll check the wireing again! Bike ran fine until I took the battery out. Once I put the battery back into the bike, problems started. I'll replace the fuse, the gauges will move, then I turn the key to on, and fuse blows!

dupe: check any areas or wires you might have moved, touched or disturbed under the seat during the battery install. if the problem surfaced after install chances are excellent it is a wire or plug in the battery area. also check the leads to the 2 rear turn signals. see if they are loose or touching one another.
