Buell racing exhaust mod, and check engin lite came on

Hallow fellow Buell owners, I just recently purchased a Buell racing exhaust and installed it myself. I really don't have much mechanical experience but I'm very handy, and now a days their is nothing you cant find on YouTube. After a few short runs I noticed that the engine light came on, so I started reading up on what can be causing the problem. I'm still unsure if it is because of the racing exhaust or not. I did noticed that the racing exhaust didn't have the same set up with the cable that attaches to the air box, I'm not sure if that would cause the engine light to come on. The seller of the exhaust assured me that I would not have to do any modifications to accommodate the exhaust. Can anyone shine a light on my situation, it would be greatly appreciated. I forgot to add that the exhaust is an actual racing exhaust by Buell. I also purchased a ECM software SPY cable to remap the bike, but I just don't have the knowledge to do it myself.

A quick and dirty reply.....with just an exhaust you will have to emulate ($) or turn off the exhaust cable code (free!). I'll post how to confirm your engine code is the issue below. You should be updating your fueling map after a more open exhaust (race exhaust) and likely a K&N high flow filter or you risk running lean. With one or the other (not both) many feel you can leave the map stock without getting in too much trouble......but that means you're not maximizing power.
