Now before we all start bashing other bikes and other **** I want to ask a question, I have an 09 1125r with a ebr ECM, K&n, modified rotor and stator, plus a few ther odds and ends, but was wondering. I know out bikes are not the fastest, or the best but in my eyes I've always loved buells and would never imagine getting another bike. But where does out bike stack up against the other bikes?
Like compared to a gsx-r 750, gsx 1000, newer ninjas, and r1s? Like are we at the bottom? Like I said I don't care and love my 1125. Just wondering is all

In the twisties, the best rider wins and our Buells are very capable machines. On the dragstrip or a runway, our bikes won't do so well as far as top speed goes.

Personally, a v-twin & twisty roads is where it's at.

Your question is too vague. You cant compare the motorcycles in one generalism like that. You top speed I-4s have it, bottom end acceleration v-twins, torque through and out of a turn gives our buells a huge advantage in the canyons, on the track the I-4 with a good rider and right setup, the 1125 keeps up though. Styling? XBR duh sexiest bike ever! Sound? XB12 all day! Everyday rider the XBS. So what are you really asking?

comparing apples to apples. i believe my xb 12 stt is comparable to something like a ducati monster 1100 as far as hp and even handling. now against something like a speed triple or cb1000r i don't believe the xb could keep up. may be in the twistys. as far as the 1125r i dont think it would fair well against cbr 10000 or R1. but who cares.
our bikes are unique american made bikes and i love that.

the duc 1100 evo has 100hp it might be a little lighter and can rev higher but hp is about the same as an xb 12. seams pretty even given that on a naked bike triple digit speeds are bit uncomfortable.

Ive riden the duc 1100, only has more top speed and it wont handle as well IMO, i discovered this thanks to squid giving me riding pointers ive been putting my bike and my friends 1100 through some hell, Its too upright. My XB out accelerates it from low speeds too 100 mph.

I rode a 1100 evo monster too. Didn't seem a whole lot snappier than my xb12x, but the brakes were quite a bit better. Really the only performance advantage over my bike was its light weight.

They make cbr 10,000's now?! Damn I want one :D

But for real, it is extremely hard to compare Buell twins to the i4's. Two completely different animals and it comes down to purely a matter of personal preference as to which one is better overall. Nearly any bone stock 600 i4 will whup up on just about any xb out there. The main reason for that is our buell xb's have no 6th gear, no top end (in comparison), and comparatively low hp numbers (unless modified extensively). Which all three contribute to lower top speeds. But at the same time you can never experience the raw power and character of a Buell on a jap bike. Doesn't even come close. Honestly the only reason I still have a Buell is because of the fun factor. Not to mention she's a sexy piece of American ingenuity also lol. But at times I miss the seemingly limitless top end of an i4 but for the power, fun, and control I get from my Buell, I consider it a fair trade.

When I race my friends that ride i4's my 12s beats them off of the line everytime but im only in the lead til about 40-50 depending on how good of a pull they get. That is vs an r6 and an r1. After the 2nd-3rd gear torque of the Buell runs out they fly past like im standing still

1125 vs ktm rc8 or duc 848 or 1190 or aprillia Mille

There ya go. That's a good comparison. I do believe they did the same comparison except with the ebr 1190. I personally want to get a rsv4. Those are nasty. But quite pricey.

They also make a gsxr 1,000,000 true story

Lol [up]

With my old 12 I would run against jap bikes all the time. Id spank the **** out of them outa the hole. The good thing about running against jap bikes in town (light to light) is that by the time they catch up your already slowing down for the cars ahead of you.

Not saying any of the of the above is to do...

My freind rides a duc 696 it's a fun bike and I like it but prefer the torque of the 12 I think top end he may have a little more.

Me on his bike I can't keep up , don't like how it handles and feel like I'm like nothing's in front of me. I can't get comfortable and feel shakey in the turns.

While he's driving its a whole different story. He loves how it handles winds it out and has no problem keeping up with me.

I've ridden with a fzr6 and there's no comparing I smoke it everyway imaginable . Never been over 100 with that bike though. And I know it's no r6. But we raced and I looked back after I hit 80 and he was like 50yrds back it was sad;).

It realy comes down to your ridding style , conditions and what you want out of a bike. The xb bikes for my need perfectly but may not put the **** eating grin on someone else's . Different strokes for different folks.
