i need to know how to lower my fairingstay on my xb9r. ive seen lots of pics of it done but no "how to" or DYI instructions. any knowledge on the topic would be a great help. im making a lightningbolt hybrid and want to chop the upper fairing and lower the fairingstay. any extra parts i need to make? etc. [confused]

there's a thread on doing this, basically making a lowered bracket to attach the fairing stay to. someone will chime in about it

Must be just me, but I never liked the look of lowing the front fairing

after reading more into it i think im going to trim th fairingstay down and put a custom upper fairing on from streetfightersinc.com they have tons of choices that mount to the forks an come with lighting

trim the fairing stay....why[confused] only to add on top of it. before you hack it up, maybe do some photo shop, design ideas on paper. once you hack up the stay and it doesn't work out...you're gonna kick yourself. mock ups are easier and cheaper than the original parts, just saying

oh. lol definatly . i should have explained the prosses. i talked to the street fighters inc guys. my roblem with there fairings is that tere is no place for the guage so you have to fab one. well instead im going to get measurements from the fairing and cut the fairingstay accourdingly. really the only thing it will be used for is to hold the gauge cluster the fairing mounting brackets wont be used. i have molding clay from a previous project with my truck. so using that and some cut cardboard will give me a pretty accurate cut. this is all a winter project though so i have several months to get it right before i park the bike and start hackin. right now im working on getting new brake and clutch levers. because its been constantly raining here in missouri. once th parts come in i will post a few pics of my bike to give an idea of what ill be working with to others. thankyou for the imput though good catch on the price of hackin without testing first.

anyone else who's riding through the lake of the ozark area this summer stop by camdenton autozone. i ride every day and have my bike parked at the door

why not just get a Koso digital speedometer and then go ahead with the streetfighter fairing? amazon or ebay would be good sources for alternative speedos as well. that way, you preserve the OEM parts and can always go back to it. also if you have to sell the bike, it would be more complete...just a suggestion as parts will be more expensive to replace. building your own fairing stay/speedo mount as another option.
