I live in North Texas, about 20 minutes to the border. I plan on taking a trip to Talimena then across to Mena, AR the third week of July. I'm probably crazy cause is gonna be hot, but it's the only week I could get off work. If anyone in OK wants to join me then send me a PM and we'll see if we can meet up.

drove the talimena drive today in my svt cobra, now i cant wait to take the buell for a ride down the talimena drive soon.

Sorry to jump in here...I'm gonna be riding into Oklahoma probably the last week in April. I'm planning my ride that I was gonna take with my dad. It would be cool to meet a few of the buellers while I'm there. After I leave Oklahoma I'm heading over to nevada to meet a couple of my dads friends on may 5th there. Then were heading up to death valley to spread some ashes, after that its back to Washington. When my plans are set I'll post a thread up on the route I'll take so I can mabey meet up with some people on the way.

XB12Lt have you figured out the route your coming into Oklahoma ? ...oopps nevermind, i needed to all of your post.

So... did this Talimena thing ever happen?? Oh, add me to a Ok Bueller. Tulsa. Couple more of us in the Tulsa area that I know of.

did this Talimena thing ever happen??
not yet . looking for spring to ride with some other buells.

Us OK Buellers need to organize a ride somewhere in oklahoma for this spring and summer.

there is a few in Ar to in fayetteville I believe to that may be close enough to do a ride to Talimena Drive.

Is there ever any good bike nights in tulsa worth going to to ride?

Who is in for a ride to Talimena scenic drive, if so go and post up
on Oklahoma-Group-rides--Talimena-scenic-drive-ride

and we will figure out when to ride.

Tulsa is pretty flat and strait. We usually do a "Spavinaw run". The Harley's have a deal in Spav and have named the road copperhead run.

Check out tulsasportbikeriders.com it has a group rides section and we will post up Spav and or Arkansas rides all summer long.

My bike came from an Indian, in Oklahoma! His name was like (Bear Wind) or (Squatting Cat)< jk on the cat thing, but for real his name was pretty crazy like the first one.

This might be a little late in the game but I live just southwest of OKC, Mustang to be specific

Warm weather is finally here in Oklahoma, time to ride( time to fish too)
Time to get
Rid of this cabin fever!

I plan on going riding today and probably tommorrow too,
So if any one want to join just post up here or pm me.

Just curious.... I have family in Edmond and Enid. I have kicked around the idea of moving to be near them sometime in the future. I live in Oregon where we have some amazing roads. How far from OKC do you have to go to find roads that are not straight flat and boring.

On a side note... why do people stop on freeway on-ramps there?!?! I almost rear ended someone getting on the freeway last time I visited! Ha!

Not sure where you've been but we've had great weather in Oklahoma since Feb. No problems riding year long here.

NwRider:

Unfortunately a vast majority of our space is flat roads, definitely some good twists and turns can be found but doubt it would be the same as Oregon in the metro area. The farther out you get in each direction the roads get a lot more interesting

*Edit* I'm in the OKC area as well btw.

Not all of OK is flat, alot of good roads around any of the lakes (& some good river roads too like hwy 10 up the Illinios river)
here. The better road in my opinion here are in eastern side
Of OKlahoma we have lots of lake river and alot of old rolling ( tall) hills
And mountians in south oklahoma with some roads cutting around over and on top of them. Check out some maps of Oklahoma ( & look at the satilite photos maps & topo maps too to see Where the roads are curvy & some great twisties.

Ok now for the other question freeway/hwy on ramps , it is mostly because
Merging traffic Yields to On Coming Traffic is the law , but also in Certain places where
The road engineers did not think of future traffic increasing and higher congestion some
Of the on ramps have have the same short short lane to use for the exit ramp traffic and
That lane is not long enough for all the exiting and getting on hwy traffic. And also i have noticed that no one( or atleast not enough) have any common decency or courtesy to let people in( but is everywhere now days especially big cities every state). But if out of the cities I never see that problem happening.

Here check this out out for Oklahoma.

Thanks native... Next time I am out for a visit I may explore a bit.

That makes more sense about the on-ramps but when you have never had someone stop in front of you while you are looking left and gaining speed it kinda surprises ya.

If you have an iPhone, a great app is "GreatestRoad"

Has user submitted roads and rides for whatever area your in.

Thanks Cecilsan.. Android :(

Lesley... Oddly enough she meant no disrespect by it. She was just raised using that word.

I will be in OKC in a few months... no bike tho :(
