As I said (@ Cooter) - it's a good thing in some ways....for the reasons you list.

It does seem, though, that some seem to be buying (and or selling) with the thought of 'getting back' their investment. Just isn't happening with these bikes (i.e. Buell's). On the other hand, some brands tend to keep reasonable resale - Harley's, for example - if kept in good shape and mainly stock configuration. I could get close to 75% back on my Sportster, and that's with five years on it (not least for the fact that it's pristine and looks better than most on a showroom floor - but I'm anal that way). It's just a different market with a different value 'system' as a result.

Agreed on the 'worth every penny' comment. My two Buells were not bought (at all) with thought of resale. If I do have to sell one or both, it will be a bath...but a bath worth taking. And for buyers - bikes like the ones Silverrider is throwing up there are no-brainers....my comment was one on the overall 'worth' of Buells on the used market, not one aimed at discouraging the plunge. 3.2K for a pristine 1125 in that condition?! Wow?!

I couldn't agree more vicenzajay:) IMO the Buell brand is the most under rated and under priced fun/dollar you can get! There are some very, very, nice examples too and even they aren't asking much more than $5-$6K.

Every single 'I'm thinking about buying a Buell' thread...
1) Are they reliable?
2) Where can I go for service?
3) Can you still get parts?

For about $3k just shut up and ride it! Need a track bike that doesn't have a salvage title? Its a no-brainer. Any comparable bike of the same age is 2 or 3x the price (looking at you Monster).

not mine, nor craigslist, but it needs to be seen....lol
