The only thing chaps do is act as a wind breaker, and there are plenty of wind breaker zip off pants out there that you would not have to subject yourself to wearing chaps on a Buell XB, now with that said we are a small group under 100,000 in the world and we reserve the right to be as unique and crazy as we want. So if you infact want to make a statment by wearing a pair or chaps on a Buell XB I would if i were you wear them with pride. We are Buell we represent and we can do what we want with out checking in with one another. So go wear your chaps and do it with pride. [cool]

I too am down to moto's only just lately. I had a near fatal 2 years ago and now I wear clip-on armor on the knee/shin. I also wear armor shorts. Jacket4bikes sells some really cheap armor and it's also all over Ebay. Denim is a waste of time by itself anyways, even a couple layers of long underwear is still useless when it contacts pavement.

I have a nice jacket with armor but i need to get a new jacket pants set with the clip-on armor. Its all about the money.

Seriously, it may be made in America and sold through HD, but do you really think they would be riding this type of bike? And I never said "No Hells Angel has ever owned or rode a Buell".

There is a guy near be that wears then on a Bolt. Looks a little odd but hey whatever keeps you warm as he only wears them when its cold. I got the bilt 3/4 waterproof coat with the overpants when they were on sale last month. I wear them with thermals under my jeans and thermals up top and I've rode in 34 degrees and so far I'm toasty. They even had them big enough to fit my fat ass. Here was when I got home during a downpour when it was about 40 out. Took off the coat and pants and was completely dry underneath.

technically, im a beefy guy and cold wind doesnt bother me. i do wear snowpants in freezing temps on my buell for long distances. chaps r good, sport'em if u got em.

i wear a 2-piece RST textile suit over my work clothes, walk into the office and then strip down. i work in a corporate environment and have heard the chuckles and seen the looks, bu ti don't care - warm in winter, cool-ish in summer and most importantly - keeps my skin on should some monkey not see me whilst commuting.

I don't care - safety is more important and corporate wear won't do the trick if I come off..

I do appreciate everyones comments! Never would have thought this post would blow up like it did. Lots of good comments and suggestions! I'm going to wear my black snowboard pants when moisture is possible, but otherwise I'm going to stick with the chaps. Just ordered me some and they should be here Monday.

It was the word "chaps" in the Title. There's lots of keywords on Buellxb that will set off a thread explosion because of the title.
A few more being; "tranny", "porn", "free", "giveaway", and the always reliable "Super Buell" or "160mph". ;)

Just so ya'll know, my chaps came into day and I gave them a long couple test rides to and from school, the store, and the bank in 40 degree drizzly weather. I mink oiled them to help shed the moisture and I stayed nice and warm. I wear an apex mesh jacket and it makes me wish I had my old Harley classic leather jacket back (it was stollen 2 years ago). Pretty happy with my purchase and decision so far!

I saw a dude on a gsxr today wearing black leather chaps with the tassel looking things down the outside seam from hip to ankle! It was cold and rainey, but he was still riding!

Sometimes you gosta do what you gosta do!

why do people keep saying to get assless chaps. They are all assless, thats why they are chaps and not pants.

I have a pair of brown leather chaps that I have had for 6 years or so. Sometimes when it is cold, I wear them. Do what ya gots ta do. I paid cheap for them, and they work. I don't think I'll ever wear them out though, because they are 1/8"+ thick. Sure are warm though.

That's what I've been doing too. No tassels though lol. It's been drizzly/rainy the last 3 days, but I stay pretty warm and they fold up real easy once I get into class and work.

That's what I thought too dude! I'm sure there are different styles out there, but to my knowledge and what I've grown up wearing on the ranch, chaps are without the crotch and butt areas. I don't really give a crap seeing as I am more comfortable and safer with them on.

Oh, and btw, I was at a stoplight earlier this morning and a couple guys on there rockets pulled up next to me wearing nothing but a jacket, gloves, and helmet. They asked if I was warm and I was thinking "Here we go, laugh it up," but I told them I was quite comfy and they said that they were freezing. Asked them why they didn't have any gear on and they said that they're also from Texas Tech and can't afford all the gear. Told them my chaps were cheap and you can find them cheap on craigslist. Also said I was thinking about a leather pant, but went with the chaps instead. One of the guys said that I did good choosing chaps since I'm not Scott Stapp and shouldn't wear leather pants haha (lead singer from Creed). Never thought of it that way :)
