My check engine light comes on after any stint on a highway/extended steady throttle...I noticed the trip odo display reset to zero, But the overall milage odo is still correct...Runs fine, I'm thinking a sensor is in error? I had problems after I had replaced the battery, But the DH dealer reset the codes, Running fine again, But the check engine light still comes on, The HD tech said it had a low voltage to the tps, Which made sense since the old battery died, But am stumped on the CE light, The tech didn't mention any other codes...I have a daytona twin tech tuner, The guy i bought the bike from was a buell tech, the oxygen sensors are disconnected, Would that have any influence on the trouble light? Thanks

Your poor bike.

Heres whats up, get your own trouble codes. Under the front fairing, to the left side you will find a connector with a rubber plug in it. Get that into sight take the rubber out, there are 4 pins. With the release tab facing up, the 2 right pins, jump them together. While they are jumped cycle the key and kill switch. The check engine light will flash fast 6 times. After that it will blink/flash a number of times, pause, blink/flash again. Count the flashes thata your code. Bet its something like O2 sensor lean or rich, possibly even battery code.

If your O2 sensor is disconnected.... I would bet that is why you get a CEL coming on after cruising....

Your bike looks for the O2 Sensor voltage while cruising (not exactly sure of the speed but 40-70mph comes to mind) and your O2 sensors are not showing changes when your ECM tells the bike to add/remove fuel (Injector Pulse Width) so it trips the light.

Dollars to donuts, if you hook up your O2 sensors, the light will stop coming on....(unless your power programmer is set up to ignore O2 sensor voltage)

Has anyone experienced stator/rotor problems? My system wasn't charging, So I replaced the voltage regulator, No luck...It seems like a job just to pull the cover, clutch, primary to check the condition of the stator/rotor...My xb12xt has only 38,000 miles, And I only use it for highway and backroads, It's been downtown 1 time(Stop/go traffic and not for long)...I'd just like to get an idea about any failures...Thx![confused]

not required. unplug VR, get yourself a quality voltmeter, set it to AC volts, start bike and at approx. 2500rpm you should see approx. 47-51 volts AC output from the alternator. if so the unit is fine.
