I have a 2003 buell xb9r

I recently replaced the clutch, and since then I have put about 1,000 miles on the bike. Today I was riding up the freeway when my bike lost power. I still had RPMs but no power to the wheel.I pulled my clutch lever and there was still tension, then tried to shift and my shift lever had seized and would not shift down from 5th. I coasted off the freeway took off my inspection cover smelled to see if it smelt like burnt clutch and it didn't, although it was a bit low on oil. everything else still looked good. When I got home, I put oil in it pt it up on the pitbull stand and started it. It was rattling a lot so I stopped and took off the whole case. Everything seems to look fine. At first I thought that maybe my main shaft nut had came loose but it seems my clutch basket is still firmly in place. Does anybody know what might be the problem.

thanks

This is weird.

1) You are in 5th with no power, but your clutch isn't floppy, so its not the cable, its more likely the plate

2) No burned clutch plate smell

Kinda out of ideas here myself, you covered all things I can think of.

Are you able to rock the rear wheel and get through gears? I think that should be possible without the clutch. If it doesn't work it could be you have a jammed selector fork and its not actually in 5th, its in a phantom neutral between 4th/5th. If thats the case you are very lucky it didn't lock up.

Lets see what the experts say.

well I took everything apart inspected it and put it back together. I still can't shift, even with everything disassembled. when the bike is off, it acts as if it's in gear, and I am unable to move the rear tire. Once I start it up the tire doesn't move it just sits there as if the clutch were engaged or it was in neutral. there is some rattling noise happening and now when I try to shift with the bike on, it rattles really loud, as if I was trying to shift down when I'm going too fast.(like a grinding more than a rattle)

thanks for the help

what could cause a bent shifter fork? When I looked it up most of the scenarios involved people dropping their bike. Could the low oil have caused it?
