i bought a cheap subframe/seat combo for my bike and am going to chop it. Not sure what look i'll be going for, i need yall to give me ideas. I'm thinking a cafe/rat look, but open to anything.Throw some concepts down!! I've never chopped up anything like this so advice and suggestions are much appreciated!
Here's my bike now:

I already have all of the electronics relocated under the seat using a lightning harness.

Here's a quick sketch up i did to start brainstorming:

And here's a nice, clean slate to put your ideas on:

don't worry, I plan on keeping my stock tail around for when / if I decide to switch back. I want to design it be be easily swappable. Also need to think about fabbing a undertray. Again, suggestions are welcome/wanted!

I like a good café racer, but it's hard to chop it off behind the seat and not make it look like you just chopped it off behind the seat! You can't use the stock front seat or it will look like you wrecked it and couldn't fix it:(

I like the way ChicknStripn did it. Less sport bike-y and more Terminator-y. The exposed sub frame is very Ducati-ish[up]

Thanks Cooter. I had done a little write on the tail chop, on another forum, but couldn't find it when I was searching for
pics. There were better pictures of the fiberglass work I did to make the undertail.
A lot of stuff had to moved around in order for it to work.
Good luck Ferris. And keep us posted

was going to cut 3-4" out of the frame and plastics, seat and cowl. weld or bolt the frame back together with aluminum stock material essentially splicing it back together. reshaping the plastics back to smooth lines and fiber glass the tail section back together.

Cooter, I bought the seat to modify. I'm going to use what i can of the stock foam and extend the plastic base to fit my needs. once that's done, im going to try and find a good spot for the cuts and start slicing. I'm not too concerned about hacking it up, the suframe was $40 (bent at back end) so if it doesn't work out i'll just go back to the stock tail. stripn and mech, thanks for your ideas!!!
