I'm gettin ready to go pick up my bike. I had to hide it in the mountains. I stopped to take a leak, my cooling fan ran on high, then low, and stopped after a few min JUST like normal.

I come back to my bike and turn the ignition, NO fuel pump sound, NO headlights, NO starter button.

Parking, tail, brake lights work. Gauges self check. Nutral light works. No oil pressure light works. DO NOT HAVE THE motor light (with the twin motor on it).

Haven't found any fried wires or burnt smell. I suspect , starter relay, ignition relay, or maybe bank angle sensor. I'm leaving to get my bike now. Any ideas?

P.S. I can't get my password reset for my original login "GSXdoubleR88ciNINJA" AARRRGHHH !

well, did you try swapping the relays around?

if you don't have spares, take a relay from something you don't need as much as the ecu / fuel pump.

Also, swap the fuses around, just because it doesn't LOOK bad, doesn't mean it isn't...

but try to keep the fuse ratings the same when you mix them around. If you did blow a 10A fuse for a reason, and put a 30A in, that could make you situation worse...

Kajer had some great suggestions, and you're on the right track with your ideas. Maybe you could lean it over and lift it back up? Thats the only thing I can think of for the bank angle sensor.

Try jumping it as well.

It was... the "key switch" relay !

THANK YOU kajer.

I didn't notice in the heat of the moment all three relays are the same. New relay $5 at Harley. Got a spare too.

new to the buell scene, drop some science my way about these relays. i assume they're easy swaps, lifespan etc.

thanks

I have similar problem on my 2003 XB9s. When I turn key on everything charges up(fuel pump, lights gauges move etc..) then when I hit the start button everything dies/cuts off and I get a squealing noise from the ignition relay. I tried changing the relays around and which ever one I put in the ignition relay plug it does the same thing. I'm going to go to Harley and by 4 news ones and give it a try.

I replaced the battery about a month ago with a new one and haven't had any problems until know. I rechecked the battery and re-cleaned and tightened then up.

thanks,
Fletch

Cool, I'll get on it tomorrow after work and get back with you if it fixes the problem.

Thanks,
fletch

Well, I tried new relays and verified the ground and still wont start. I just clicks when I hit the start button and all power dies. Also, when I try to turn on the key nothing happens and if I keep turning the key on and off then the lights might come on but they are all dim and then when I try to start it the Key relay starts to make a squealing noise. Maybe I'm not checking the grounds correctly. The only thing I have done was put a new battery in it about a month ago, but I had ridden it several times after the battery install and it was fine.

thanks,
fletch

i think your battery needs charging and your charging system isn't working fletch. sounds like it worked fine with the new battery but now that its going dead it shows. when my battery died mine would make that squealing noise before turning the bike over.

Well I figured it out. It was the new battery it worked fine for about a month and some reason it decided to start holding volts, but no amps. No clue why, but warranty got me a new battery and it starts like a champ now. So, lets see if the problem comes back. I just didn't think the new battery would crap out like that, a first time for me.

So when the relays under the seat don't get enough juice to activate them properly they make a buzzing sound. Like my pops always says "First check what was touched last."

thanks for the posts
fletch
