So my housemate is having a little trouble making up his mind. Its time for him to upgrade from this bad boy:

He is currently considering a:
KTM_990_Super_Duke_R_2008.jpg

Or a:
benelli_tnt_cafe_1130_racer_2.jpg

Or, if the money gods smile upon him:
ducati-streetfighter-white_2.jpg

Questions? Comments? Opinions? If you've ridden any of these nows the time to get all Clarkson on us!

The KTM is TALL, parts are expensive and there aren't a lot of them. The benelli.. well that would just be stupid to buy. I'd go with the Duc.

With bikes like that, ask around with the experienced riders in the area and find out which dealership treats their customer the best.
With bikes like those you'll need good dealer support.

Normall not crazy about KTM but that bike looks perfect. I'd say go for that one. Are either of those bikes really any cheaper to have than the Duc? I assume none of them are cheap.

And the Duc parts aren't cheap [confused], Go with the KTM. Not a lot of Buell's out there and look what bike we all have.

tell him to get a buell
hahaha I kinda like being the only one in the group with a Buell tho!

The KTM and the Duc are pretty close (purchase price, dunno about maintainance, insurance etc), maybe about 3 or 4 grand between them but the Benelli is much cheaper, a little over half the price. When you talk about 'cheap' do you know the kinds of price surges we would be looking at as opposed to say a Buell? It's nice to have a bike thats cheap to maintain but dont we already have enough Jap I4's around!!

Well said. Exclusivity is half the fun.

That aprilia looks like fun, he's making quite a jump, both in engine size and style of bike. No interest in something midway between the two? Something like a street triple? If I was him I'd hold out to see what MV comes out with in a naked 675 triple.

What country are we talking about here? And what's the plate on over the axle on the right side of his swingarm??

there is a new Buell coming out very soon,

nice bikes but, for bikes that are trying to look and be unique , they all look the same, except the aprilla and it looks ugly like most other bubble looking fullfairing covering everything type of bikes. sounds like he wants to be like you and have a different bike from everyone in the gruop of the other 50 carbon copy of make, model , & color bikes.....

if he really wants something that is the real unquie bike , that would be a BUELL of course.

and if a buell is just to much of unique bike( or if he does not like people staring constantly wondering what it is) for him, then there are other bikes that are better and more unique than those you have above, my 2 cents...

KTM

there are a few around here (hand full of dirt bikes 1 adventure 1 SMC 1 Duke and 1 RC8) and all the owners love them, bulletproof bikes and engines.

Something like a street triple?

He's not big on the Street Triples, personally they sound a bit soft in my opinion as well...and had no idea MV was bringing out a new bike. Are they replacing the Brutale? Let's hope they put those organ exhausts on it!

We are in Melbourne, Aus. The plate on the swingarm is the rego, we use a sticker linking the VIN to the license plate and owner.

...then there are other bikes that are better and more unique than those you have above

Uniqueness does make them more desirable, but thats not to say he is going to buy a bike based solely on that-any others you can suggest are more than welcome, post up some pics as well!

Id go KTM......I love the DUC's but I feel like its my duty as a Buell owner to keep others from getting suckered into DUC's no matter how cool they are. Just because they rip their designs off of evryone else and charge a recockulous ammount of money: doesnt mean they're worth it or better for that matter.
