User "oh9bolt" recommended that I introduce myself, so here I am.
My name is Jason. I'm 38. Professionally, I am a govvie IT consultant. I live in Alexandria and am a relatively new rider (MSF completed and license acquired in March this year). About a month ago, I purchased my first bike: a 2005 Firebolt. LOVE the bike. I have been on a few rides, accumulating almost 400 miles on the bike, including one impromptu Shenandoah trip 2 friday afternoons ago with my best friend (a rider with many years more experience than me) down some nice bendy back roads and over the VA-215 (I think that's the route number) pass (the one with the warning to riders that they are likely to die in the next few miles...lol...) and back again. Good times.
With my new [to me] bike and a $1500 trip to Coleman Powersports to get properly geared up, I'm definitely down for meeting fellow Buellers to ride with. As a new rider, I'm very cautious and not terribly fast (nor do I care to be until I've been riding consistently for a couple of seasons), and due possibly to my age and disdain for (fear of) the recovery time I know I'll have with even minor injuries, I'm not going to be someone cajoled into taking stupid risks even if (shocking, I know...) my manhood is impugned...
So, if there are any rides with groups of patient folk that aren't going to be flustered by inability/unwillingness to keep up, I'm certainly down. Schedule-wise, I generally have my kids the 2nd and 4th weekends of every month, so those weekends are usually out, but I do have a fair amount of flexibility in my work schedule on most thursdays and fridays (independent consulting has a couple of perks...
).
In any case, look forward to hearing from you guys. Glad to see so many similarly obsessed Buell fanatics so close to home!
