Well, despite being 30 yesterday when I went to work I rode the bike. I chose to go straight home afterward, which was a great decision because I get just a couple blocks from home and hear a familiar pop, then my engine got louder and it sounds like it's sucking extra air under load. I've had this happen before so I immediately knew what it was and turned off the bike, coasting as far as I could so I wouldn't have to push the bike up hill. I got a block away from home and pushed it the rest of the way. Once I got it to my driveway I put it on the stand, started it and revved it once while I watched the engine. I blew my rear head gasket again. I was planning on stripping her down again this winter and rebuilding the engine since I hadn't after I got her back, just set me ahead a few weeks.

Now she will be stripped and I'll be getting ahold of a few people to help me make her shine for next year.

What I want to do this winter is completely tear down the engine, flush the oil clean it up, remove any broken bolts ( I know there are two), install new cometic gaskets all around, drop in 9 primary, make new oil lines, paint plastics and frame, possibly mock up new plastics, strip and paint rims, mount M-lock more securely, finish new exhaust.

So I'm going to stock up on some
Oil leak dye
loc tite blue
and
thread sealants

make new oil lines,
You've got the right fittings & crimping tools, right? I recall from bitter past experience a long time ago that it's tough to fabricate reliable oil-tight lines without these! :(

I'm from a rural town in Iowa where half the people work in manufacturing plants or in automotive repair. Shouldn't be too hard to find.

Anyone have any other ideas of things I should do?

Thinking about reupholstering my seat as well so that the orange doesn't clash.

If you're re-covering the seat anyway, it might be a good time to also reprofile the foam, or add a gel insert for comfort (?)...

Well I almost purchased a select seat that was completely black this morning, but I slept through the end of the ebay auction and didn't get to jump the bid at the end like I normally do. So someone got one for like $100.

Anyway, This is how far I got on the teardown in the three hours I devoted to it tonight.

I cant wait to see her clean.

Me too, sadly I can't remember the last time it wasn't dirty.

I have some great new parts on their way though, so it should be an interesting build.

Were you getting on it pretty hard when the engine was still cold? You gotta be easy on it until it reaches operating temperature.

I let it warm up for a minute or so, but It was like 30 out or somewhere close to that. But yeah, I was racing some dude in a carerra between lights.

New cometic gaskets, that my father can't throw away this time (last time he thought I had taken everything out of the box and threw it away with the base, head, and rocker gaskets).

You cant do that when its cold out until its had a chance to get nice and warm. Unless you really like rebuilding it all the time.

lol, it is very therapeutic for me.

I don't mind this time since I was planning on doing it this winter anyway, I already had the gaskets ordered and with the way the weather has been I would've put it away probably a week later.

I'm just glad it wasn't hot enough to melt the jug this time.

Okay so now I'm toying with the idea of a supercharger. I have a turbocharger that I was tempted to work with, but I don't want to mess with Dean's complete system. I may save the turbo for the uly or possibly another bike.

For now here is my parts list:

Frame
*new frame
lower CR triple
Upper CR triple
43mm forks (will use CF wrap on them)
Swingarm
*long swingarm
front galfer rotor
hidden brembo rear brake
new engine mounts
updated oil lines (need fittings)
S wiring harness
M-Lock
Subframe spacers
9 primary
keda 1.88" headers
Keda RT XB1 exhaust

Ton of rims, don't know which set I'll wind up painting.
