engine light blinks 12 times?

i connected 1,2pin with jumper cable.

then turn on the ignition keys(not starting engine)

Then! engine service light is blink.

blinking 12 times, pause and 12 times and pause repeat.

12/12 doesnt seem to be a code, when doing this it should rapidly flash 6 times then transmit the code.

Was your check engine light On before you jumpered pins 1-2? If not, were you just curious about the CEL, or are you experiencing some performance problem?

If your check engine light doesnt come on when riding then you dont have any codes..... The 12/ 6 quick flashes with a pause in between is the start of the transmission of codes and the end.

what jesse and ready said. just out of curiousity isn't 12...pause...12...pause......either a faulty ecm or short in diagnostics cable itself?[confused]

It would be indicative of a bad cable if the CEL blinked rapidly when the cable was plugged in - basically, the cable would be simulating someone jumpering pins 1-2 !

If there are no codes, then the CEL blinks more rapidly when pins 1-2 are jumpered. Otherwise, it blinks a 6-flash intermission, then the code(s), then repeats.
