I am riding a 2003 Firebolt XB9R.

I need to replace the engine temp sensor (Buell part #P1278.K which superseded part #Y0605.K) and it has been back-ordered for a while now. This part is nowhere to find, no dealership in the U.S, nor any other website out there) I am now looking into alternatives to get back on the road. Does anyone know the resistor used or the resistance of the engine temp sensor on this bike. Or a similar resistor/engine temp sensor from another company or a car that uses such a part....Any help is appreciated as this is getting very frustrating. Thanks

Kyle

Is this sensor in the rear head, threaded in? It is a single wire and most cars use two wire temp sensors. Maybe you could locate a used head with sensor from somewhere like buellster? Best of luck on your search.

what problems are you having with it, did you diagnose it. check for poor conections and shifted sensor those can cuase an intermittent problem, .
the voltage and resistance is listed in the service manual section 4.18 . also the removal & installation procedures in service manual call for a special socket Snap-On M3503B or equivalent type.
section 4.34 . thought that I would mention that if you or someone else didn't have that info on the engine temp sensor.if you cant find look the sportser engine temp sensor should be similar.link below shows HD # ask a HD dealer for any interchange part for it
# HD32564-99YC .

here is one . look at the specs and years it fits you may find one for the same specs , looks like its all the same for 99 to 2008 models.

engine temp sensor( on top of rear cylinder head) not O2 sensor , but good find . those will be cheaper and easier to find than buell / hd o2 sensors.
