I have always been curious about this one. Occasionally I run accross stoplights when no car is behind me, and they cycle and never let me turn left. I know it's because the bike is not being detected, so I wait until the next time my direction turns green and just go when the traffic allows.

I am curious if anyone has been stopped by the police for doing something like this? If so did they get ticketed, warned, or what.

I live in Tennessee and its legal to turn on red in a bike because of that issue. Not all states are like that. Just check the law where you live

i am no law major but i think you can run it after so much time. to be honest my drivers ed. teacher told me to run a light when i got my license about 6 years ago (after sitting for a few minutes). this was in NC, im sure laws are different everywhere.

You can buy those same magnets at Walmart in the craft section. They do cost more and ony 4 in a pack though.

I've wondered the same. I used to run them all the time, but never saw cops around. It's frustrating sitting at a red light for a couple minutes when it's a hundred degrees and you have leathers on. I always got the evil eye from motorists

They don't turn I give them the finger and go. :D

To be fair I give the finger to all road cameras though.

Sometimes I have to get off my bike, run over and push the crosswalk button, then run back to get on my bike before the light turns green.

I would love to see this:) I was told by a cop around here that the lights have some strobe detector that sense the strobe from the light bars on emergency vehicles. At night when no one is oncoming, I've been flashing my brights half block before the red light and most of the times it works. I don't see this working very well in the day time though, haven't tried.

Here in Georgia a red light is treated as a stop sign. You have to look both ways for NO traffic and you can proceed with your turn.Little known law but it is there.

How bout gated communities...when you can't get out! LOL but I doubt goin through a light is even legal here in Vegas...too many dumb drivers anyway and not to mention all these fools on their Sportbikes doin wheelies and stoppies @ excess of 100mph on surface streets. killin it for the rest of us! A kid just got killed doin that stuff...car turned left, couldn't stop, and ended up in the rear passenger door. I typically know what lights to avoid and there are plenty alternative routes in a big city. But if I have to I just get off my bike and push the crosswalk button...LOL It'll turn green for pedestrians...go figure!

Ive done it a few times. I have heard its legal here in KY after a couple min or so if your on a bike (never actually looked it up tho)
