Polished it is then :D I like the idea of a long-life can that doesn't require maintenance. I'll buy one after pay-day I think. Just need to get my hands on a race ECU or some sort of valve bypass module now.

You don't necessarily need either a module or race ECU.

If you disconnect the exhaust valve cable (which runs between the airbox and exhaust) but leave the actual servo motor connected to the ECU then you will not get an engine warning light and don't need to touch either ECU or get an emulator.

You can either remove the actuating cable completely (although you will never get it back in the way it was!) or just tie the end up inside the belly pan in case you ever want to refit the stock pipe.

If you really want to remove the servo motor from the top of your airbox cover, when fitting an open airbox like our 'ultimate airbox' for instance, then you would need an emulator like this http://www.trojan-horse.co.uk/prods/97.html
This simply plugs into the wiring loom in place of the servo motor and fools the ECU into thinking it is still there :)

The stock ECU should cope with the Remus exhaust, although they are set up pretty lean in stock form to get through emissions tests. If you want to make it run a bit richer but don't want to mess around with tuning or programming ECU's then the Remus Powerizer is a good compromise. This is a plug in unit that needs no adjustment and alters the fuelling to suit your exhaust. Simple 20 minute fitting too :)

Awesome! I'll get me some of these. Is fitting easy enough? Or is there a nice guide somewhere? Once I'm in the airbox I may as well reroute the breathers if I can find a guide on how to do that.

So much for the CF body replacements, they will have to wait :D

The breather reroute is a bit of a waste of time in my opinion on the XB. When we built ur race bike in 2006 I had dyno time available to try a few different options out and there is definitely NO performance increase on the XB by rerouting breathers. On the old model tuber frame Buells the airbox was tiny, and there was a slight benfit in performacne on those bikes, plus the oil used to drip onto your leg when riding if you kept the stock breathers! The XB has a much bigger volume airbox and the breather fumes have no effect on fuelling or performance :)

The exhaust comes with instructions for fitting as does the Powerizer and Emulator. Any problems with fitting you can always give us a call for advice :)

I'll leave the breather then. Less work :)

Can you tell me what the difference is between Ilmberger and Hand Laid? Are they both brandnames? Do you do carbon seat and cowl (I intend to be able to carry a passenger)? Lastly, do you do exhaust wraps? I was intending to remove the downpipes but really don't want to rotate the engine or anything so decided to wrap instead.

Ilmberger carbon is made from 'Pre-Preg' carbon sheet so is the expensive very lightweight F1 style stuff. It is finihsed in a clear plastic coating that is very glossy.
Hand laid carbon is made in the same way that you would lay up a glassfibre part by hand, so is slightly heavier than pre-preg. The finish is in clear gel coat which isn't quite as glossy as the Ilmberger type, but still good and doesn't need paint.

Both types use the same weave pattern so you can mix n match on the bike without it looking odd.

Ilmberger don't make a carbon version of the stock dual seat unfortunately (although they do make a passenger seat cowl), so if you wanted a full dual seat option then it would only be the hand laid version that is available from us.

We don't sell exhaust wrap I'm afraid. I have used it in the past but only to protect full race fairings from exhaust heat etc. To be honest you will find it very difficult to get a pleasing result without taking the headers off to wrap them as it is quite fiddly to do in situ. Also you will need the protection spray for the wrap once you have put it on, otherwise they look very tatty in a very short space of time :( I have heard some say that the wrap actually increases corrocion of the pipe as they trap water, but haven't noticed this myself when I have used it.
