On the R the head lights have a common ground pretty much a little 'y' on the S im pretty sure they have separate grounds thus the reason you need to do a dual on mod. My suggestion is leave the white and yellow where they need yo be and make the common ground and ground it to the lower triple tree.make sense?

Seven?!?

Ok you have four wires coming from the bike becuase it's originally a lightneing, right? The headlight pigtail from the firebolt has three wires comeing from it, right?

Hook up the white to white, Yellow to yellow, then make a "y" with the blacks. When I say that I mean tie both of the grounds from each R headlight and connect them to the single black coming from the bike.

What i would do is match the wire colors like you had them....... Black/Black, White/White, Yellow/Yellow, then orange left out. Once your back to that point and the lights work independently like the lightning lights find out why your dash isnt working.........evedently youve screwed the pooch somewhere with the grounding. Once all is good with the dash then go back and figure out the lighting issue. Im guessing if you would just do the white wire mod as if you still had the lightning front end you may fix the issue, but thats just a guess on my part. Whatever the issue is it has to be in your wirring....the computers are the same as well as the dash. So its got to be fairly basic being that there is not much as far as wiring in a lightning nose. Just check all your grounds and sensors. If somthing was screwed down before....make sure its screwed down now and not being held by a ziptie.

Dusty........the grounds are already mated together in the harness.......thats why you dont see 2 blacks on either the lightning or Bolts headlight harness plug. He needs to worry about not having a functional dash before he worrys about not having 2 lights on with h/beam.

Him not having a dashboard should be an easy fix just like the headlihts... Hell I'm willing to bet they're completely related. Don't they share a ground?

right thats what I did, but what do I connect the orange wire to? the orange is the running light coming from the bike.

Yeah on my bolt there are 2 ground wires that sit on just below the fairing stay

ok Ill check there, When i plugged in the dash the first time it worked, but then I kept fideling with the headlight wires and ignition, and now it doesnt work
[confused]

Ill check the ground under the fairing stay. I took everything off again and put the R triple on, and the ignition. Tomorrow morning ill start checking grounds and try to get the speedo working again. I must have pulled it or something Im not sure. Once I get that figured out I need to find out how to wire the headlights. For some reason it is much more confusing then it should be.

Ok so let me understand this. On the R there is the black, the yellow, and the white. I put black to black, Orange (running light) on s to yellow(lowbeam) on R, then white to white, then I have a left over yellow from the s......

I believe so. The running lights switched with the lows and then are only on when tge lows are supposed to be

So do I cap off the yellow wire? or do I double up in the switch somewhere? Im about to head out and start workin on this. Ill probably run into some issues.

there should be two wires to switch somewhere for the running lights and the lows, but I think you'd be fine with capping off the old low wire

I don't see any ground wires under the fairing stay... My Speedo still isn't turning on???

the grounds for the speedo should all be in the connector that plugs into it. otherwise there's the two that ground on the front of the frame. I'll look over the manuals and see if there's something I'm missing though

directly above the lower triple

thats on the firebolt harness, so it might've been relocated for the s but I know if it doesnt have those grounds things go nuts

I have a screw there, but nothing is connected to it. The screw is pretty tight, and no wires that are hanging.
