So rrbuell and I have put together a kit to fix the broken area of the primary cover that the clutch ramp assembly rests on.
It's an easy 5 step process with minimal tools and skill required. Included are detailed instructions with pictures, all the hardware needed, as well as unlimited technical and phone support for $60.00 shipped. You also have the option of sending your broken primary cover to us to fix for you for $150.00 shipped back to you.

You can follow this link to place an order https://docs.google.com/forms/d/16PZVxuprasCLpqpEYbq7XREvAl2HUpc0pardeENsd5A/viewform

If you have any questions please email us at [email protected]

Thanks in advance everyone!

Fantastic! big thx for all your R & D time with this XB issue.. (many of us will experience this, sooner or later)

Now, to be clear.. this is of course a "fix".. but more importantly it is an UPGRADE that will most likely prevent breakage from occuring again, correct?

You are correct thumpin! The plate that holds the ramp assembly is made of aircraft quality aluminum. It's much stronger then the cast aluminum that is noted for breaking but not too hard to cause damage to the ramp assembly.

i think it's wonderful when some talented individual kicks in via the aftermarket with items and expertise like this. and the price is very reasonable considering the alternative. job well done sir.

Ive read the methods for fixing this issue, im Mechanical enough if i had to i could fix it. But, for the price id much rather purchase the kit, but i wont purchase anything i cant see.

Sounds good. I might buy the DYI kit just to have in case my
primary cover decides to shit the bed [smirk] [up]

nice work. [up]

ok so gonna sound like a dummy on this one (possibly no more than normal) but what exactly does this kit repair / prevent? Could some one link to a thread or explain the damage and its cause as I am all at sea on this one....

Just want to understand if this is some thing I should be doing while the bike is off the road as it looks a fair priced kit.

There's no such thing as a stupid question...only foolish, unnecessary questions! ;)
The Buell XB Model Primary Covers seem to have a week spot where the clutch ramp assembly rests...behind the inspection cover. Attached are some pictures that will hopefully show you what we're talking about.

After time, the lip that's part of the primary cover casting breaks due to the stress put upon it...usually when the clutch is being adjusted but it has been known to happen while you're shifting. When it breaks you will lose clutch. Hope this helps, please feel free to add anything I missed everyone!

How or what are you using to install the cover after the kit has been installed? also, what aluminum are you using as "aircraft quality aluminum"...being an aircraft mechanic myself, this peaks my interest to know.

Thrstrmech: if you are referring to the inspection cover and it's screws, we recommend checking to make sure the screws aren't too long after the new ramp assembly plate is installed...sanding their length down a little maybe necessary. Hope this helps!
