So, against the recomendation of the forum to go with an after market battery, last year I went with HD OEM. I figured, what the hell, the one in the bike had a date that implied it was the original battery.

For the past month or so I've been having issues with starting when the engine is warm and getting over the compression hump. I just changed the stator, rotor, and regulator about 2 months after the new battery.

I took the battery to Folsom HD and they did there whole charge and load test with a receipt documenting all of the readings.

12.7V
165CCA, it says 225CCA on the battery.

Here you go he said. The battery's fine. Thank GOD the service manager was in ear shot when I questioned the numbers. Let it sit around a wile and retest it, in the mean time get him a battery. That one isn't righ he said. The guys at this shop are really good, I'm not the only BUELL owner who uses them. Great for parts when I'm in a pinch.

Did the whole volt meters before and after as well as wile running. I almost forgot how it is supposed to start. This has been going on for to long.

Thanks Lunatic, I didn't know this. So I've been damaging AGM battery's with everyday tender use. I haven't used it yet on this one and wasn't planning on it after doing some reading. I'll be getting a better tender for this battery anyway. I got this one from the Parkie"who sold me the grenade I transformed back into a XB12.

can't confirm or refute that. but i can confirm this: i have never owned or installed a lithium-ion battery in any vehicle and probably never will. my experience based on lead-acid and AGM batteries and tons of them. i consistently have approx. 25 assorted cycles and at least 8 assorted new and classic cars stored in my building.....more over the winter time. every single one of them that i religiously "tendered" for one 24 hour period per week enjoyed battery longevity and reliable starting. every single one of them that had a "tender" left on for lengthy periods suffered from substantially reduced battery life. THAT is my experience. tender manufacturers of course will state otherwise.

I must agree with Lunatic (that happens a lot). My experience with 'tenders' had cost me annual battery changes:(
Once I gave up on the 'set it and forget it' nonsence my batteries see many years of service. Even the cheap ones
