Frozen Solid

I ride all year round. Weather ha been in the single digits lately. I went to start my bike and find my throttle to be frozen and won't rotate. I didn't want to force it, so I left it alone. I'm not sure if the throttle grip is frozen or the throttle bodies or something in between. I'll pull the bike in and thaw it out tomorrow.

Has anyone else run into this issue, or any other cold weather related problems?

Maybe try to lube your cables?

Possibly enough condensation in the TB to freeze up the butterfly? More likely moisture in the cables though.

Is the bike stored outside?

It's usually stored in the shed but has been outside for the last few days.

probably cables and TB. put it inside somewhere, let it thaw or use hair dryer to warm up throttle housing, both cables, and TB if you can get to it. many a car/truck/suv with moisture around the TB plate and/or gunk have had them freeze up in that type of cold. lube and clean your best bet.

I bet the throttle tube froze to the bar, or cam in the control pod is froze, hopefully you don't have enough moisture in the cables or throttle body to freeze solid

When mine did that the throttle shaft was broken. Hope that didn't happen to you.

Today was a bit warmer and I grabbed the throttle & turned it. It "broke" free easily and is operating smoothly.

alien: due to your shed storage and cold temps...i'd still do some preventive maintenance on it and lube the throttle cable, clean the TB plate, and take apart the half-moon clamps that comprise the throttle housing and lube up the rotationg assembly. but that's me.
