I use an app on my iPad called Zite which is a relatively new avenue for delving news and media. There are many other similar mediums like Flipbook and Editions. I believe this method is and will eventually replace newspapers as you can customize what type of information you want delivered to you daily, i. e. sports, business, local, finance, construction, technology, and the title of this post Gadgets.

Ive come across some cool gadgets on this app so I thought I would start a 'cool gadgets' thread.

This one today I thought was pretty cool for those who enjoy the outdoors, hiking, camping, hunting, etc.

Fire piston

I know there are other versions of these, but this one seems to work relatively well.

Post some cool gadgets

I love kickstarter

That website is a great concept and has helped many people & companies secure funding to launch products and businesses. There's always cool stuff on there. [up]

From my 10 second google study, I believe that's correct. May not be just plastics though? I'm not real sure.

Not a CNC machine for plastic.

I was responsible for purchasing an industrial 3D printer for an architectural office a few years ago. Though this information is probably outdated, it was my understanding that there were 2 basic kinds of 3D printers. The first lays down alternating layers of plastic "dust" and epoxy. After the plotting is finished, the project is placed into a cabinet to blow off the excess "dust" so that it can be recycled back into the machine. The second lays down "molten" plastic. The shop opted for the latter, which has worked great for them.

In lay mans terms. A CNC is a subtractive process and a 3D printer is an additive process. Just layer by layer

Hmmmm. After Googling Kickstarter.com scam, there's multiple hits for it. Anyone know if it's legit for sure? Great concept.

I have my iphone 4s for 2months and a coupe of days and it has been great. I love the map application papago which works really well even when i am offline.

Though with a few rumors standing how the 5th version coming in just a few more months, i am quite disheartened by the news. Though it can very well be just another burning rumor.

I hope we could have more motorcycle apps for it.

That's apples m.o. , cannibalize their own products well before their life cycle is up. Keeps them current, in the news, and keeps us apple dorks buying. That's why they have more cash than the entire United Stares Treasury!
