the good part about the contour is you dont need the case to use it in the rain, boating or surfing you only need it for filming underwater.

Let me ask this. I'm kinda a tard when it comes to computers. Are they user friendly . Is either contour or hero easier to manage? My freind has a hero2 its awsome but the batt doesn't last long. I compleatly had a yard sale on whiteface last summer and the batt died seconds before I was so pissed it would have been hilarious. Will the contour last longer? Thanks for all the help guys [up]

You can get the battery bac-pac as they call it. It doubles the battery life but adds about 20% to the overall size. As far as the contour battery life I'm not sure.

It seems that you know what you want the camera to do for you, so your best option would be to look over the data sheets and decide which meets your need best.

I have owned both the ContourHD1080P and the GoPro Hero. The GoPro gets my vote, better video/audio quality. The Contour would be my choice if it was going on a helmet and I do like how simple it is to turn on and off.

Just got the hero 3 silver and I love it. Just can't figure out which editing software to use. Any ideas?

I actually was looking at GoPro 3's recently. It came down to the silver vs black edition. With the remote the black seemed to be the way to go but once I added up the accessories I wanted I decided to wait. I'm not sure I would use ti enough to justify the cost.

With what a few guys said I feel may be true in my case. A older hero 2 might suite me just fine and save a lot of dough.
