GSX-R levers: They fit our buells

Levers arrived in a week. Fitted them 2day and for AU$54 delivered I can't complain but there not as good as the Pazzos I had on the SV. And as I have a XB12Ss 2010 model (09-10 models brake perch are F-14) I didn't even need to modify the brake perch, all I had to do is remove the plastic collar around the clutch cable end.

I just ordered a pair of those yesterday morning. My bike came with two clutch levers, one is the stock reach, and another is made for small hands. The short reach lever feels perfect, but it's harder to shift into neutral, so I feel like it's not pulling the cable as far as it should to release the clutch. The normal reach lever is just way longer than it needs to be and I spend too much time reaching for the lever. Hopefully these levers will be a nice medium.

Got my levers on tonight. I'm very pleased. It took me a little longer to grind the brake lever down than the 15 minutes other people said, but it's only because I did it a little at a time, I just didn't want to go too far, plus I had to keep chasing the puppy down to take away all the zipties and shop rags away from her. Probably took about half an hour.

I think the best part so far is that it got rid of that jerkiness that my stock levers had. When I'm in stop and go city traffic I only use 1 finger to slow down, and it seems like I can only squeeze the brake smoothly so far and then it seems to jerk, which is very annoying when you're trying to ride smoothly in traffic. I was worried my brakes needed to be bled, but I didn't seem to notice any of it with the new lever, so that was worth the $55 itself!

Has anyone tried taking their clutch lever to the grinder too? It's not that bad, but the fact that the lever no where near lines up with the lever perch kinda bothers me, and I'm sure it'll only get worse in time. I was thinking of grinding it down so the edge runs right into the perch. I'm sure the paint job would look awful considering there's no way it would match the anodizing. I could always try to pull the whole lever apart and just paint the inside piece.

See Stellio's second picture above if you're not sure what I'm talking about.

Ok, Just got my levers and put them on.
The only difference I can see is the part in this picture (not my lever) that is ground down. Does it have to be ground down or is it fine as is.

You DO NOT want that part of the lever touching or having any amount of pressure against the "button" on the master cylinder that it engages when squeezed. Bought some Blast levers to use temporarily, mounted them and took off - fine going to work - locked up my fronts coming back - I cleared the lever where you have the arrow and it worked great till 3 mon. later got my Pazzos. - Just a word of warning to be aware of.

Flaya I wouldnt grind that side down. stick to the side that hits the brake light switch. The only downside to using these levers is that the brake lever is a lot closer to tha handlebar than the clutch lever. no huge deal since the levers are adjustable, but to be close to even I have to have my clutch lever in one of the closest positions and the brake lever in one of the farther positions. Grinding down the part that actually presses on the plunger is only going to make that worse. Just keep grinding down the other part of the lever until it's not pressing in the bbrake at all and you'll be set.

I couldn't grind mine down enough where maiden is talking about and had to go where the arrow is and grind - but that was a Blast lever, maybe the Gixxer levers will work that way. Either way, you don't want that putting any pressure on the M/C in normal state.

I just ordered a pair of these.

They should be here in early January.ebay GSXR 600 levers
These are billed as "Clutch Brake Lever for Suzuki GSXR600 GSXR750 GSXR1000" and are sold by 'the2wheels' who has a pretty high level of feedback.

I'm hoping that I just need to work on the front and rear stops on the brake lever and don't have to do as much modification as in Dave's youtube video.

I'll post my results when I get them.

They're priced well too. After shipping they're $10-15 cheaper than the gsxr levers were. I just picked up a gsxr clutch lever perch off of ebay because I was tired of the way my clutch lever fit in the XB perch. It was a little farther away than it should be, plus the front edge stuck out past the perch a little bit. The angle isn't as important because they're adjustable but I've always had the clutch lever at one of it's closest settings and the brake lever at one of it's farthest settings. the new perch and a little bit more time grinding down the brake lever should put them both in about the same place.

Finally got around to updating my bike with the matching GSXR perch. Just for anyone who hasn't seen them up close, this is how the gsxr lever fits on the XB perch. Everything bolts up and works well, but that little overhang on the front edge always bugged me. I thought about just grinding it down with the dremel and repainting it black, but I came across a good deal on a gsxr perch on ebay so I figured I'd just grab it. The bonus, and probably only reason it was worth trading was because the gsxr perch has an adjuster on it so I'll be able to easily adjust the cable if I ever need to. The switch bolted onto the bottom of the both appear to be identical. I haven't tried to start the bike yet, but I think it'll work with the gsxr switch. If not I'll just swap it out for the XB switch. First picture is the gsxr lever and XB perch with the overlap...

Here's the lever mounted with the new perch...

The adjuster takes up a bit more space, so the cable was too tight how it was set before. The adjuster at the front of my motor was alright as the end of adjustment, so I pulled off the inspection cover on the lift side of the engine, and twisted that little screw and everything worked great after that. (Dave's video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dcXJhA1j-ao )

Won't get to try it out for a month or more until the weather warms up, but everything seems good so far.

Only downside worth mentioning is that the gsxr perch doesn't have the mount for your mirrors. I have bar end mirrors on mine, do it doesn't affect anything, but you'd be out of luck if you like the stock mirrors. I know all of this is kind of moot now that someone else sells XB levers that are cheap, but I know a lot of people bought the XB levers before the new ones came around.

FYI...madhornets.com or the2wheels.com have levers that are direct replacements with no mods needed to install 'em for about $40. I have the shorty's from madhornets installed
